Hi Ladies,

I got into a routine with baby where i knew he/she would move in the morning at 10am, lunchtime and again at about 9pm at night. Over the past 5 days this routine has stopped, i'm still feeling very slight movements, but no definate kicks. I used to be able to see my bump move and feel it from the outside, but now its so faint i'm concerned.

Not sure if baby could have moved into another position or if there's a problem.

Has anyone noticed change like this before?? Do I have reason to be worried?

Please help!

Thanks x

Hey Hon,

My baby seems to make less movement these days too. My midwife told me when I feel anxious about this to have a cold drink and to lye down then use my hands sort of like paddles either side of my bump to get the baby moving from side to side for a while and talk to it asking it to move for me. This does seem to get quite a good reaction and movement.

There's nothing to worry about, like you say he/she is probably just lying differently.

I have no experience as this is my first but wanted to try to reassure you perhaps and say that I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, if you are a little concerned, then maybe call your MW to put your mind at ease.

Like Becs said, I'm sure it's nothing and baby is just lying differently

Ditto what Becs has said. A cold drink and then lie down and feel.

My LO had a routine for a while, then had a phase of being very quiet and I could not feel so much movement. MW said it was perfectly normal and that chances are s/he had turned round so was kicking me at the back which I cannot really feel as my placenta is there. At 26 weeks they still have plenty of room to move around and turn so don't panic. Also they do go through a growth spurt between 22-30 weeks or so, so often have a few busy days then a few quiet ones.

After a few weeks my LO is now back to kicking the crap out of me, well not so much kicking now as wriggling, but for sure is back to his/her active self again.

If you feel you have real cause for concern then give your MW a call but try the old cold drink trick as it usually works a charm. So long as you are feeling movement its a good thing :) Doesn't have to be at a set time or to a routine

If you are AT ALL worried hunni then call your midwife, she will probably ask you to go and be checked out & put your mind at rest. I remember exactly the same happening at 25-26 weeks for me too. Baby had a routine then all of a sudden it was sooo quiet. I also rememebr alot of girls having the same. I think baby has a big growth spurt like Sherlock says.

Now I get much fewer kicks but the movements are MUCH bigger and boy doies he wriggle, my tummy looked like a plate of Jelly yesterday where he was just wriggling for hours! :rotfl:

You are still feeling baby so thats a real good, just call your midwife hun and mention it so that you can be reassured

I was the same yesterday. In fact the last week. Not enough room to kick so much now, so LO has been wriggling a lot. My tummy just ripples and waves. And every now and again you see a real visible kick. OH loves it and could not believe how active LO is at times. Usually in the evening and night as I think the movement during the day brings on sleeptime. And some of the movements are way up past my bellybutton its not funny. No wonder I feel like my lungs are the size of a can of sardines

Mind you I just drank a glass of cold OJ and LO is giving me grief for it

i would definately call your midwife to put your mind at rest
