Red streaks in dark hair

I fancy some red streaks in my hair but I've never tried it before and as my hair is naturally quite dark you usually don't notice any colour that much... I wouldn't try to do it myself anyways so if I manage to find some time to go to a salon do you know how they are going to proceed? If the operation involves bleaching the streaks that I want red I know I won't be so keen on it

If you want the red to be really vibrant then you will have to have it pre lightened.
But you could have some very subtle dark red ones done without it needing to be bleached!!
they would be noticeable when your hair catches the light..but way more subtle than if it was bleached first.

I have mousy brown hair and had red and blond streaks last week... I posted pics somewhere. I couldn't have th bright red I wanted but it went pretty vivid anyway just with a tint.

Yes I saw your pics... that looks great on you... I love it
But your hair natural colour is much lighter than mine... my hair is almost black

my hair was dyed black for a few years and i had streaks in it like all the time all different colours and i just used a kit called Smart colour and got my mum to do it, it loghtens the hair as its colouring and leaves it in really ace condition

My hair is red all over. It is so lovely and vibrant for the first few days but red fades very quickly.
Re-dyed my hair last week after 5 months, my roots were awful and the red was a burnt orange colour. Not looking forward to this lovely red fading.

You might need to lighten the parts you want coloured first if you want it to be vibrant but it will fade.
