I know that rear facing are a lot safer even after 12 months so I'm hoping to stay rear or get one that goes both ways. I know there's not a huge choice of rear facing ones at the mo and they're quite expensive. Anyone got any recommendations?

I went for the joie stages, 130 in halfords. A good budget seat if you don't/can't spend too much. Rear facing until 18kg, approx 4 years, and forward facing until 25kg, approx 7 years x

Wss! But if your budget will stretch further there's lots of options for rearfacing til 6yo or getting an isofix seat (only up to 18kg/4yo). I know it's been mentioned before but for the best advice, including what will specifically fit your car/a I can't recommend joining the 'car seat advice for mummies and daddies' Facebook page more! :) xx

Definitely join the Facebook group. They'll help you out definitely! :)
There's actually quite a big selection of ERF once you start really looking at it. Just moat high street stores only stock a few.

excellent thanks ladies! I'll join that group!

I got the Britax dualfix. It's the one that faces both ways. Emma is 12 months now, and we've had her in it since 12 months. I wouldn't swap it for anything at the moment. Emma is on the 91st centile so doubt she will fit it much past her 3rd birthday.

I have the cybex sirona, it is a good size seat and rotates to the side to put baby in which helps my back. It was pricey at £375, but what price do you put on your baby's spine. It had all the features I wanted including isofix and when rotates to forward facing the 3 point harness tucks away and a bumper bar goes on the front preventing the 3-4 year old sneaking out of the straps. Also it is meant to help the body roll forwad if you had an accident rather than snap.

Joie stages is what we have - £130. Love love love it - RF until 4 and can be used as a booster once they get old enough.
