I'm having real trouble breathing properly in the evenings and when I go to bed. It's like a wheezy rattling and I can't breathe out very much before I cough or have to breathe in again to get some more air.

I've had it before, even before I was pregnant but have never been diagnosed with asthma or anything, just put it down to different things like the tumble dryer, the iron, cat hair etc. Oh and I gave up smoking as soon as I found I was PG.

It's got a lot worse now though and is keeping me awake (although I can't bloody sleep at the mo anyway) - but is fine during the day so I can't understand what's causing it. The other evening I got a bit upset and really couldn't get my breath for ages so it was quite worrying.

I guess I should go to the docs but am reluctant as last time all he did was listen to my chest and say there didnt seem to be any sign of asthma and send me away.

Any thoughts?

dont lay flat hun is about as good advice as i can offer if i lay flat i get breathless i get it walking too due to how high up the bubs is if your large chested that can make it worse too but def get mw or dr to have a listen in to be sure xxx

Thanks serenity that's a good point, it does ease slightly if I raise my head so I should maybe use more pillows or something. And the old chest is on the large side too!
xx

I had these a few weeks back, Was awful and woke up a few times in the night cause i couldnt breathe, But it seemed to ease off again, so maybe it was just where babe was sitting.

i saw an anesatitist a few weeks ago and he said it difficult with preggers women because they carry alot of fat on the booby regeon when pregnant and if your busty anyway it cant help

Try lying on your left side hun, this will ease the breathlessness and get some more pillows to prop you up when you are on your back. You shouldnt lie flat on your back when heavily pregnant. Hope you feel better soon xx

I get this too but I think it's cause I'm asthmatic. I can usually breathe normally again after using my inhaler, but I agree. It is worse when lying down. Try lying on your side or propping yourself up with some pillows. :) Hope it gets better for you soon!
