Hello,
I bought my tablets yesterday but am a bit confused on the dosage to take. How much are you alltaken and what is the strength i.e mg of the tablets??

The reason I ask is coz mine say to take 2tablets 3 times a day with warm water and that seems alot??

I've got the holland and barrett ones (not sure of the strength) it says to take up 2 6 a day so after i hit 36 weeks i've been taking the full 6 a day, before that i only took 3.

it seems like a lot, but id been drinking the tea before and theres no way i could drink that many cups a day (yuck)

You can make tea outta mine too, if you empty the leaves in to a cup so i assume that you just need to take that many to get the right amount of the "active" ingredient

I've seen these threads before. Why are you taking them??

Copied and pasted lol, i cant be assed to edit, but it does pretty much explain why. from this site

Raspberry leaf tea is nutrient rich and contains many of the vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy pregnancy including vitamins A, C, E and B, magnesium, calcium and iron. Consuming raspberry leaf tea not only helps mother and baby to get all the nutrients they need but can also help to replenish a new mothers stores after the birth.

Raspberry leaf tea also contains the alkaloid 'fragine' which is said to strengthen and tone the muscles of the uterus, helping them to contract more efficiently during labour. Research has found that taking raspberry leaf during the weeks prior to delivery helps to shorten the second stage of labour by making contractions more effective. Some studies have also found that it reduces the need for an assisted delivery (i.e. an emergency cesarean or use of forceps or ventouse).

Sipping raspberry leaf tea during and after the birth is also said to help the uterus contract back down to size, reduce after birth bleeding and help initiate the let down of breastmilk

That sounds right to me. 2 tabs, 3 times a day is what I was on. Tablet size did vary slightly depending on where I bought them but overall it was not much difference and it didn't exceed the daily recommend dose.

lol you never read the threads?

Helps speed up second stage of labour mainly. Does not bring labour on as some people think.

FWIW my second stage (pushing baby out) was 34 minutes for an almost 10lb baby. Defo think the raspberry leaf tablets and tea helped. My MW said it cannormally take a fair while longer.

FWIW tea from 33 weeks or so, starting on one cup and building up to about 6 a day iirc. Tablets not before 36/37 weeks and again, start low does and work up to 6 a day over a few days of taking them.

Ooooh, a quicker labour sounds good to me :D .

I'll pop into the herbal shop next time I'm in town and get some for when I'm 33 weeks.

I'm only gonna take tablets rather than tea so is it advised to wait to 36 weeks??xx

I tried the tea. Took 2 sips and couldn't cope with anymore! My second stage labour was 30 mins. I wanted to do it to help. If i had a shop nearby that did the tablets i'd have taken them.

Yup, don't take them earlier. Wait till then :)

If you dont like the tea try taking it with some sort of squash, when i started drinking 2 cups a day i'd make the tea in the morning let it cool then poor ribena in as if i was making squash, it still had a slight tea tasta (i dont like tea full stop) but it was very much drinkable.

i took the tea but wasnt keen so switched to the tabs

i had to be induced but they helped loads in the pushing stages, id definately take them again

I drank the tea and took the tablets and i was pushing for 4hrs! .. so don't think they worked in my case xx
