I started feeling pains in my back on 30th August, they were very irregular, I went to bed and had a normal nights sleep and they came and went throughout the day on 31st. I wasn't sure what was happening and still went for lunch and for a walk with OH.

That night they became more regular and I phoned triage at 10pm, the contractions were manageable and not yet regular enough to go in, they said to wait until I was having 4/5 contractions in 10 minutes lasting 1 minute each. By 2am they had gotten regular enough to go in and very painful (still all in my back). I was examined and was only 2cm but they gave me a labour room and let OH stay. I was given diamorphine at this point to help me sleep and managed to sleep through the night. When I woke up things ramped up, I was very thirsty but the diamorphine had made me sick so I was throwing up any water I drank and getting very intense contractions in my back and down my thighs. I was given anti sickness drugs and Gas and air (which done nothing for me) but managed for few more hours. At this point I started to feel I couldn't cope and midwife examined me and I was 7cm. I asked for an epidural and was told I could have it but might take a while so had more diamorphine in the meantime. It felt like time went so quickly. I had my diamorphine, next thing I knew I was getting my epidural (didn't feel this at all) and I was practically euphoric. I kept falling asleep and eventually told due to my blood pressure I was going to have forceps and an episiotomy. I was terrified but felt absolutely nothing. Baby was born at 15:47 weighing 6lb 7oz and we had skin to skin. I didn't feel the placenta being delivered or my stitches. Cannot recommend an epi highly enough!

My stitches are bothering me a bit now but it's all worth it for baby! X

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing too.

I had an episiotomy and found the recovery a little slow and painful especially around 2/3 weeks later. Try and have a few salt baths.

Well done mummy! xx

Thanks for sharing Hun, hope you and baby are doing well :)

I had an episiotomy with my daughter too, lots of baths really do help! Try adding a few drops of lavender oil to a small glass of milk and pouring in bath x

Congratulations hun, hope u recover well.

Huge congratulations and great birth story.

What did you name your daughter? Quite a diddy little weight too xx

Congratulations. Thankyou for sharing! Beautiful name. I had stitches that last time. I found putting witch hazel in the fridge then putting some on a gauze in my pad really eased and soothed it! Also when peeing lean right forward.
Hope you both are doing well xx
