Quorn and rice??

Is Hope ok having this? I have given her a little bit of Quorn but only the tiniest bit, id like her to have this instead of meat, untill she decides for herself what she wants to eat. And is she ok with normal rice or do i need to get a special kind? Thanks

I've no idea about the quorn hun but i dont think it would be a problem. Thea has had normal rice, my doctor said it was fine. He also said tofu was ok too if thats anything like quorn?

I just tried to type the ingredients, it has Reconstituted egg white, sea salt , wheat gluten in is that ok?

I think quorn is pretty salty which is not a good thing for liitle uns. Personally i wouldnt give her it cos of that but it might be worth seeing exactly how much salt is in it? Rice is fine though.

This is a link from the vegetarian society website. There is a bit about quorn near the bottom. It basically says it is ok to give but it doesn't have a lot in it so might fill your baby up but not actually provide any nutrients.

Hi hun

I am also vegi and make lots of quorn meals for me and DF. I looked into giving it to Ellis so I emailed quorn.....

They said.... Quorn is suitable for small children but it does not hold as much fat etc as meat (which babies need) so you would have to make baby eat twice as much for them to be gaining any good from it.

I decided to feed ellis meat now with DF and make little quorn subsuitutes for me. But I will feed Ellis quorn every now and then for the taste etc.

Thanks Keeley for that, i was planning to give Hope fish too so shed get quite a bit of protein any way, i may give it her on the odd occasion
