Hi, this is my first post, and so sorry if this topic has been covered loads of times in other threads!

I am 13 weeks pg, and was about 4 weeks when I found out, at the time smoking about 15 a day. I quit as soon as I found out, cos I always said I would, but I did use nicotine gum, 2MG, up until 9th week. Am feeling really bad cos I chewed quite a lot of it some days, as was feeling moody and evil, and now I'm so worried that I've harmed my baby. I am a fretful first timer!! :(

Not using any nictone now, and not missing it too much, but wish I could go back in time and quit cold turkey!!

Just wondered what other peoples views were on this?

Im sure the gum was better than the fag!!!! Dont worry about it, its your hormones making you feel all guilty and mean, you've done really well and quitting at 9 weeks is beter than quitting at 16 weeks or 24 weeks so a big fat WELL DONE to you

Don't be hard on yourself hun..............according to my midwife book the single most important thing you can do for your baby is to give up smoking. Well you've done that! You should be patting yourself on the back

Forget the few weeks of gum (like claire said I'm sure the gum was better than a fag), relax, feel proud of yourself and enjoy your pregnancy with the knowledge that you have given your lil bubba every chance he/she needs :D

the nicotine is not the only thing that harms your baby it's all the other chemicals well done for quitting. every ciggy you haven't had is one that can't harm your bubs

just repeating what the others have said.

the gum is still better than the fags.

and WELL DONE YOU!!!! for giving up

Aw, thanks everyone. I am 30 weeks now, and haven't smoked since I quit, and have stayed off gum and patches too! Still hard at times, but worth it - don't think I would have the lung capacity for a fag right now anyway!
