Hi ladies.

As a first timer and WTT/TTCer can I ask something?

What exactly do you do once you get a BFP? Do you go to your GP right away, or wait until a certain week after LMP?

Is it the GP you see or the nurse?

Then how often are you in and out to see them?

(I work with family so want to know how often I'll be excusing myself - and I'm just nosey!!)

Thanks ladies. Xxxx

Hi there!

I went to see the GP the very next day after getting my BFP (probably could have waited a week or so, but managed to get a cancellation on my day off and didn't want to wait another week as we were going on holiday!) I really wanted to get the ball rolling before going away on holiday.

The booking appointment (when you first see the midwife) is usually between weeks 6-10. After that you have a scan at about week 12. Midwife appointments become more regular the further your pregnancy progresses. First time Mums have 10 appointments with the midwife, others have just 7.

Hope this helps! Good luck with TTC!! :)

Thanks so much ladies. :)

Really nice to see what the system is like. :D

I really appreciate your thorough answers. PF girls are all so nice!!

The girls have pretty much a summed it all up for you :)

Good luck with your WTTC and TTC chick :) xx

I phoned the docs surgery after my bfp and was basically told there's no point booking to see the GP and booked for a 10 week midwife appt, which is this Friday!

Thanks Cupcake Mummy for asking this and thanks ladies for your answers - I'm currently a first time TTC-er too and had been wondering

Hello :)

When I found out I was pregnant (at 5 weeks) I called the doctors surgery straight away and announced it to the receptionist on the phone! She told me to call back on Monday to arrange an appointment. I didn't actually have my appointment until I was 8 weeks, that was with my GP. All she did at that appointment was talk to me and take my height, weight and blood pressure.

The next appointment I had was my booking appointment at 11 weeks, which lasted about 2 hours. I have my scan next week and then I dont have another appointment until I'm 18 weeks. Apparently after that I will be having alternate appointments between the midwife and the GP every few weeks.

Hope that helps!

Mel x
