I've washed all babys clothes and blankets, then realised I haven't washed the moses basket covers etc.

Are you literally washing everything or should I just leave these? There is also a removable cover on the moses basket mattress that says its washable, do you think i should wash this before using it even though I'll be putting a fitted sheet over it?

My house looks like a flippin' launderette! :wash:

I washed most things with Ethan but havn't done half as much this time. i personally wouldn't wash the moses basket/matress covers if they r new but all the clothes and bits i would. Its completely up to you, some ppl feel better knowing its been done! x

i've literally just washed all the clothes, will be washing the blankets/sheets but don't think i'll bother with the moses basket cover, as it was brought new and inside sealed packaging! x

Was about to do the same myself. I have moses basket shoved in attic out the way but realised I have washed all sheets and blankets but not the covers and frills of basket. I'm gonna get it down and wash - would have got stuffy in attic. Only problem is that once its down, it stays down......

I did the same as u, washed things a few weeks before then panicked last week coz I hadn't done the covers. Probably don't need to but I was glad I got to practice putting them back on, took me ages to work out how to do it!

Xxx

I think I'll wash them because they smell really strongly of that weird 'new' smell. I'd rather they smelt like Fairy non-bio! Hehe

I did the moses bbasket covers etc :) but didn't bother with the mattress cover since it'll have a sheet over it! xxx

oh rachey.......my phones gone in for repair so i have a loan one but no phone numbers!!!! so can you text me please

I'm washing everything! The place did look like a launderette, but it's all coming together now. We bought a rocking bassinet thing which has frills and stuff, so will probably do that too. I just like the idea of everything smelling the same for baby and I would never put baby in anything that hadn't been washed first, regardless of packaging etc.

It's been ingrained in my head by my Mam as she bought my brother a new dressing gown when he was about 10 and the blue dye from it rubbed on to his skin and he ended up with a terrible case of impetigo. The only thing that could have caused it was the unwashed dressing gown. I know this was probably a one off, but I wash everything before wearing now. Plus, we don't know where half of our clothes have been made and in what conditions they have been placed - it's a risk I'm not willing to take!
