Pushchair blown into sea - upsetting story

Thats awful! I wonder what was the father and "femail friend" doing at the time? Cos from what I have understood it isnt a mother....

I have edited your title so others don't click on this without warning

DH and I walk around this area a lot :( .

:talkhand: I'm fed up with these fucking stories. Can we have a "dead children news stories section" please so I can avoid them altogether

ETA: Sorry Beanie I saw you edited title- hit a nerve!

Well, does it matter whether it is the mother or not? Thousands of fathers take their kids out with their new partners, thousands of mothers do, too. Doesn't make any of them irresponsible or bad parents.

It was a freak accident and I think it's very sad that the father is jumped on immediately, especially for such a dubious reason as having a female friend, rather than being with the kids' mother.

I agree

I wish my pram had a wrist strap too, I've often thought what if I accidently slipped whilst pushing the pushchair and it rolled away.

It is very sad :(

Just get yourself something like a 60 cm dyneema sling and lark-foot it around the handle

Slings are flat, so should be relatively comfy round the wrist and rated to take quite a bit of force, probably the buggy would break before the sling. They're not expensive and you can buy them in any climbing store if you don't want to pay postage. (Needlesports have brilliant service and didn't charge postage either last time I ordsered from them.)

I am not jumping on the father, I am just wondering how on earth you didnt take care with the kids in dangerous place (if it was a mother I would be the same). I am sorry, but a pushchair with 2 kids cant simply take off like a balloon. It had to be something more then simply getting your hands off the pushchair to scrach your nose or something similar. What I mean, you gotta take care when you are out and about.

I do think its an awful tragedy so lets not turn this into argument.

My OH reminded me when I told him about this story of a time James was blown over in his pushchair, I had totally forgotten about it!
James was about 2 at the time and was sat in his maclaren quest (it was just parked outside someones house while we were opening the car, we werent moving it or holding on at the time), it was in the middle of really strong winds and the buggy was tipped over onto its side by a big gust! Luckily James wasn't hurt cos the buggy was on flat ground and he was strapped in. I can totally understand how this could have happened. Terrible accident that could have happened to anyone :(

Thanks for the tip about the slings widow wadman, I'll have to look into getting one :)

This hits a raw nerve for me too, i have a recurring nightmare about this happening which sacres me witless as i cant swim but would jump in for my angels any day. I have vowed never to take them anywhere near water in the buggy.

My buggy has a strap which goes round your wrist incase of this sort of thing or on a hill. It is simply webbing sewn onto the buggy and could easily be made for pence, also you can get straps which parents slip over thiers and thier childs wrist instead of reins this would work too. If anyone want the measurements of the strap on my phil and teds for this purpose PM me and i'll measure it for you.

Poor poor little darling

I've bought a pack of 2 wrist straps in the pound shop today.
