Austin has had problems with his eyes since he was born, his sticky eye never went away and when he was 2 weeks old the doctor said his tear ducts hadn't formed properly and it had given him conjunctivitus. Since then his right eye has cleared up, but he's had to had 4 or 5 courses of eye drops to treat infections in his left eye, caused by the tear duct not forming.
The doctor always said to give it until 8 months as most cases will have cleared up by them. Well today Austin turned 8 months old and we were going to the doctors anyway so I asked about his eye. He's got conjunctivitus again, so we have yet more eye drops (which he hates, & screams when I put them in). We have to go back in about 2 weeks when his cold's better to see how the eye is then.
Apparently if it's still not sorted (which I don't think it will be, it's still as bad as ever now) we'll be referred to the eye specialist at the hospital and he may have to drain the tear duct under anaesthetic.
Has anyone else had any experience with anything similar? The doctor said it's not uncommon although it would usually have cleared up by now.
