i have disliked primark for quite a while. It caught on over here in NI before it did the rest of the UK, mainly because we are a bunch of bargain hunting cheapskates, and there was a huge Primark in belfast. The clothes used to be decentish but now it's mostly tat, and I would rather not wear something which is a) crap and b) made my a kid a few years older than my own.

Mind you it won't stop my granny. My god, that woman would whip those 7 year old kids herself if she though she could get an extra pound off something

i agree is awaful but if it wasnt primark it would just be another shop and as stated above what would happen if they didnt have the jobs badly paid or not?

i must admit tho for kids clothes i wont go anywhere else because for how long they are in them you cant get better for your money. i dont buy anything for me tho, i used to but the one in my area is supposed to be the second biggest but the bottom floor is all womens and the only nice thing is the jeans!!! i havent bought a top from there for over a yr!

its not entirely primarks fault kids are being used tho, yes they employ cheap work agencies abroad but it is the agencies that are employiong the children not primark and since finding out primark have dropped the agencies in question.

if its not primark they are making clothes for im sure those agencies will find them something else to work for which is the most disgusting thing. its horrible thinking of them sitting there working all day espec when you contrast it against your own kids and what fun tey get up to every day!

xxxx

I'd bet quite a lot that Primark had a fairly good idea that child labour was being used  mind you it is good for kids clothes, why is it that in shops that do crap adults clothes, the kids stuff is always quite good?

I just buy second hand now. Or else if i buy anything new for myself it is always by Nomad/Namaste/ Gringo etc

yeah they would have to be incredibly niaive not to know. I get Seren to sew her own clothes, much cheaper.

Why is everyone having a go at Primark. A couple of months ago, it was Gap in the papers using cheap labour in India where the kids were sewing the beads on by hand. I am sure that it happens in all the shops whether you pay £2 for a top or £40. It is no good saying that you shouldnt buy stuff from this shop. that isnt good enough to stop this.

It also goes on in this country too where children are working in sweat shops. have just read a book called "hidden", which is about this, and it was only recently that this happened.
