Hello ladies, I need some advice.

I'm due on Friday so I want to be prepared. I know the current guidelines say to only prepare one bottle at a time but this will take ages. I don't want to have to wait over half an hour while I have a screaming baby.

How does everybody prepare their bottles? Do you make each bottle one at a time or do you make them up in advance?

xx

in your green book 1-5 that the health visitor will give you it says you can prepare them and they last 24 hours in the fridge i used to make them up enough for one day and put them in the fridge x

Hey,
I wash bottles, rinse them off then i sterilise them (usually six at a time). Boil the kettle with fresh water, add the correct amount of water to each bottle put lids/teats on. Then i keep them on the side, when LO wakes i add the correct amount of formula to the bottle, give it a shack and its all ready. LO drinks bottle at room temperature (this is what we did in hospital), so don't have the hassle of warming bottle up xxxxxxxxx

I do them all at once!! Just wash, sterilise, boil kettle, wait 30mins, add water to whatever oz you want then add correct amount of powder. Leave to cool for another 30mins then pop in fridge.
I'm then a little naughty, when baby needs feeding, pop bottle in microwave for a certain amount of seconds, shake well then voila!!! x x

I did AJ's bottles like this. He wouldn't drink warm milk.

Thanks ladies for your advice. It is much appreciated. Does the water need to be a certain temperature when you put the formula in? xx

we do the same as don don too. We put the powder into room temp water when he is ready for it. needs a but of a swish around.

best of luck hon!!!

Room temp! Also makes it much easier when you're out and about!

I put the water in when boiling hot, as its easier to mix up when you shake it.
One thing I will say, I make a few and keep in the fridge etc
And sorry if this info is wrong, but Ive read and was told that you have to put the formula in when the water is boiling, as it kills off any bateria in the forumla, something about e-coli? Obv to sterilise the water, but also for the forumla?
Im pretty sure this is true, but sorry if its not x

i do this!

I think I will try and get him used to room temp milk. It will save us heating it up. xx

Don't worry about it hun. I only ever really gave my son Luke warm at most when he was younger, so he'd be used to it.
They don't know any better x
