Hi ladies.

So Ive had a little back trouble the past few months. In the past it twinges then gets sore for a few days. I wish I'd went to the doctor about it now  Stupid me. Being 25 and an idiot I thought it would just sort itself out and be minor.

So last Sunday my back went and by Monday it was the worst pain I have been in in my life. I mean, labour x 1000. I have an extremely high pain threshold (10cm before going to hospital with dd, I really do) but fuck me I did not cope well. I ended up stuck in bed from Monday to Friday. There were tears. Thank god my partner got off work for our dd. He literally had to half lift my to the bathroom.

And what I thought was a little back issue turns out to be a herniated lumbar disk I found out by the doc on a home visit. He thought it could be quite severe. (Yay problems)

I'm totally bricking it with this pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant last night after being gutted and deciding we'd have to stop trying until it's sorted. Possibly not have anymore at all. Then of course sure enough I got my BFP. I was pregnant the whole time.

Currently not too bad though it kills when I stand. Docs this week to see what the heck my options are. . No idea how I'm going to fare pregnant, if it won't flare up or will etc

Sorry for the rant tbh anyone else had any sort of back issue pregnant. Or currently? I'm just looking for a sounding board or similar mums.

I suffer from siactica and am 12 weeks. Last 3 weeks I have been home from work because I couldn't stand.. I can't really offer any advice but I didn't want to read and run. Venting is very therapeutic though xx

Thanks the reply. I imagine few are in a similar position luckily.

Currently have sciatica( from the herniated disk) down my right leg. Its my first experience of it and it. is .a . bitch! So I feel your pain. I couldnt stand at all last week, though I can now its bloody sore & I go back to work next week. Dreading it & I love my job too. I'm so nervous for how my pregnancy will affect it, and labour too xx

Christ! I feel awful for you and I bet your in agony! Sending you a huge hug and positive thoughts. I had SPD really really bad in my 1st pregnancy which waa agony and by 30wk I could hardly dress myself and said I would never do it again. Im doing it again but luckily it isn't as bad. Anyway, are you on any pain relief as I would suggest you see consultant at hospital to discuss your options- I wouldn't be fobbed off and make sure you are fully informed of all your options. I hope you get some answers soon and some treatment- maybe ask for physio at hydro pool as that may help with each stage of your pregnancy. You will get through this hun xxxxxx

Get yourself a referral to the antenatal physio asap.

Explain you have an underlying back problem and you are worried about your health over the next 8 months. They will give you exercises. I got a referral to the hydrotherapy pool which I go to once a week and it has helped. Swimming helps as well as pelvic tilt exercises and generally not standing still. Movement is key to recovery in my circumstance.

Thanks for the advice hun . It was honestly the worst pain I've ever felt and the sciatica was almost worse. Thankfully it's easing off I think. Today was the first day I left the house in a week. I'm hoping I'll manage work next week. Gosh I can't even imagine having spd at 30weeks!!

Currently waiting for referrals and have doc appointment next week. I was taking tramadol and diazepam before I found out I was pregnant as it was that bad this time.
I crapped myself when I realised I was pregnant. But I've been told it should be okay since I was only on tramadol for two days before I found out. We'll have to wait and see. Currently I'm taking nothing right now until I've seen doc next week. I'm so scared how I'm going to manage through the pregnancy tbh. My appointments can't come quick enough! Xxxxx

Thanks hun for advice. Docs next week to get referrals started. I have all the exercises to do but been told to wait until my appointment befote starting any. TBH I am so worried. I need to work too and I work as a support Worker for vulnerable adults (sometimes violent) so I'm hoping it doesn't affect work much on top of pregnancy.

You're totally right about movement. I really gave up this time with the pain and barely moved all week. Which I think made my sciatica worse. I m still in quite a bit of pain but I felt better than I have since last week, by just being up, out and about

I will mention hydrotherapy. Maybe not swimming though I can't swim haha xx
