Pregnancy in mid 30's

I just turned 35 (and partner was 40) when I conceived - on our first attempt, we have been very fortunate.
If you haven't considered it, you might want to come off hormonal-type contraceptives and switch to condoms until you're ready to start trying - it can take a while for your body to adjust (but not always!).

^^ this

I never would have believed how much havoc hormonal contraceptives could have caused me. I know my situation was unusual but I've sworn off them for life!!

and its when i read things like this that i am glad i NEVER went on the pill. I know i am possibly the only woman not to be

I’ve never been on the pill either, or any hormonal contraception apart from a brief time on the progesterone only pill when I was a teenager, I’ve always had the copper coil (it’s the non hormonal coil), I’m so glad about it how it’s probably the reason why we’ve managed to conceive quickly! X

I'm taking the seven seas trying for a baby pills as heard it can help regulate the cycle. Not sure if my cycle will go back to normal straight away or not as just off the pill. Giving my body some time first before ttc.

That sounds like a good plan. Good luck! :-)

Don't listen to the age related statistics hun I'm 28 and know women older then me who have conceived and I'm on cycle 8 and never been pregnant

Any of you guys used a fertility monitor? Jyst bought the clear blue one so will wait until i have a couple of natural cycles before using it.

I don't use a monitor but I do use opk ( ovulation tests)

I’m 40 and ttc number 3! We had our first daughter at 30 and second at 36, with very deliberate big age gaps. Good luck hope it happens quick for u

I think the problem for us ladies is that until we finally ttc we literally have no idea how easy or hard it will be for us. Everyone is different, Yes there are the age statistics about fertility with some truth but the media does a good job at scare mongering too. Women have been having babies at all ages for years. At least you have decided to ttc and that's the big, difficult decision so from there at least you are trying and you honestly never know (and won't know if being younger or older would have made any difference).

I'm 39, 40 in May. DH is 41. We started ttc in August. Fell pregnant 2nd time but had an early miscarriage then fell pregnant straight after, 3rd time trying. I'm now 14+6 with twins.

Best of luck to you. I think deciding to ttc is important thing, don't worry about age at all.

(Oh, thought aboutranother thing, depending on where you live if you ever needed ivf there are age restrictions. Here it's under 35 for a free cycle. I was older than that before I even met my oh!)

I haven’t long turned 36, glad it’s not just me worried about it... had everything tested though and nothing wrong (my egg reserve is on low side of normal but still normal) so worried as to why haven’t conceived yet although dr says it’s my weight, but that’s their excuse for everything tbh

At the end of the day all we can do is try! I just get pissed off sometimes that there are people out there who have kids so easily and they neglect / abuse them. But people who would treat them right have difficulty. It sucks!

Well, I started ttc at age 38, had a few losses close together, concieved a couple of week before my birthday and had our son 7 months ago at 39.

Now trying for our second at age 40. Lost one already but really got the timing right this month so fx we have another chance. Each conception we only dtd once, the night before a positive opk.

I haven't been on the pill since my first mc in 2nd trimeser in my 20's.

I agree that it's probably good to give your hormones a chance to rebalance before you start trying but...lots of women fall pregnant straight after coming off the pill so I guess many ways work.

I don't buy into age so much now though and nor do most doctors/midwives.

Christ, when I went in for monitoring at 8months, there was a 45yr old having her 10th baby and she said she still wasn't done.
