Has anyone found that being pregnant has made their IBS worse? Mine always used to get worse whilst I was on my period, which in turn made me period cramps worse. It was normally managable on the weeks between periods, but its all over the place now! Worried that as bumpy gets heavier its going to get worse!!
The thought of coughing and wee coming out is bad enough, let alone with anything worse!!

My IBS seems to be very on and off (pregnant or not), but when it does flare up, I've noticed that it hurts twice as much now I'm pregnant! I can't find triggers for it either, it just randomly decides to cripple me whenever it feels like it :( it's horrible.. we have enough to deal with enough already, what with the hormones, mood swings, nausea, weight gain, stress levels etc!!!

Hey chick mine wasn't great when I was pg! Had a rather embarrassing wind episode when delivering a training course to a group of managers at work lol!!! Anyway that aside the doctor prescribed me Lactolose which helped loads and I just tried to be healthy with my food choices!

Tbh I think pg plays havoc with a normal bowel (sorry tmi) so with IBS it's just a case of healthy eating and trial and error!

HTH xxx

I'm struggling with it more than ever now, I'd be ok if I didn't have to eat and could drink a vodka each evening to make me go to the loo in the morning. I look 8 months pg for the day as soon as I eat anything and the constipation is a killer :(

Mine can be a bit on/off normally but pregnancy has helped loads. I'm hoping it doesn't come back - wishful thinking probably. I was quite constipated at first however, lactulose helped me a lot x

Oh god, me! The cramps have been so bad during this pregnancy, I have had many a labour scare because of it. All I've found I can do is take a Colofac and wait an hour to see if it goes- one of these times I'm going to assume it's IBS, take a tablet and suddenly realise that it hasn't stopped 3 hours later, lol!

I've been lucky that mine has been better on the whole whilst being pg! The worst thing is the trapped wind and cramps when it is bad tho. I know a lot of people suffer with constipation when pregnant but I think coz I was always more 'overactive' with my IBS i haven't had so much of this in pregnancy which has been good....kindof evened things out a bit!

Have u seen GP hun or tried a food diary? May be worth it to see if u can find triggers or get things on a more even keel for u. It can be miserable I know- u have my sympathy xx

im not pregnant yet but i have really bad ibs so not looking forward to that getting worse when i am :(

Iv had alot of people for years now asking "how many months along are you" and the embrassment of having to say "im not pregnant i have ibs" as my tummy is quite swollen when it flares up...even had someone ask if i was pregnant when i was on my honeymoon!!!!

Pregnancy has sorted my IBS out. It's put me in hospital before, I was so constipated it was putting pressure on my heart and lungs but since about week 14 I've been going every day which is nowt short of a miracle lol. It can go either way but the mw should be able to help you control it if it's bad xxxxxxxxx
