Hi ladies,
Has anyone had pre-eclampsia or know of anyone who has? I went to hosp Thursday night because I had been suffering with headaches for about 4 days and that day had been having sparkly lights in front of my eyes. I was there for 5 hours! monitored baby and she was fine, blood pressure was ok and no protein in urine. They did blood tests and just said 'they have come back fine'. They gave me painkillers for my headache and sent me home. Yesterday i felt sooo light headed and felt like i was going to faint. Today I have had slightly blurred vision again and tonight have felt really sick. I dont want to phone labour ward again tonight and be there for hours again, i am tired enough as it is... thinking of phoning in the morning for some more advice as every time i google it comes up with pre-pre-eclampsia. Any advice is welcome.

Hi I've been suffering with headaches myself for 4 days now. I was referred to hospital on Thursday after my pre op for my section. My blood pressure was up but slowly came down. I had slight swelling, small amount of protein in urine too. They have done bloods but not had any results. They sent me home after 7 hours. I felt better yesterday but have had a dull headache today and swollen feet even though I haven't moved much. I'm baffled myself to be honest. I'm thinking it could be the change in the weather as I know a few people complaining of migraine and headaches. I'm assuming mine is migraine as I've had blurred vision in my left eye only xx

I had high blood pressure in both pregnancies and full blown pre eclampsia in my second. I had to be induced with my first baby and spent a week in hospital before having my second at 38 weeks due to my blood pressure.

Regardless of what happened last time, I would always go and get checked over. Although your blood pressure was ok last time it can go up quickly and without warning. I didn't have symptoms associated with pre eclampsia, other than swelling, even when I got admitted with my youngest. I'd only gone to the hospital because I'd developed bell's palsy in my face. But my blood pressure was around 170/120 (had been 140/90) and I had protein in my urine.

I was admitted at 36 weeks exactly due to protein in my urine and at that point had no other symptoms. The first night I was admitted my BP went through the roof and even on a cocktail of meds it was uncontrolled however I felt fine in myself. I was asked on a 4 hourly basis if I had visual disturbances or headaches as they are a sign of pre eclampsia.

Not trying to scare you but I soon learnt while in there that you can have a number of the symptoms but BP and urine be fine or be like me and have high BP and protein but feel fine. Still worth getting checked out though as is not a laughing matter and can be serious.

Hope it is nothing and a good nights sleep does the trick or is a migraine that they can treat but if you are unsure then get checked out! X

I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy (and possibly with my second post-delivery but was started on bp meds quickly so never developed fully, thank goodness). Mine started with some general swelling in my feet/ankles. I then had a massive headache which lasted a day or so, then went, but then I kept getting sparkly silvery lights in my vision. That went on for a month or so - in the meantime I had mw checks, bp & urine always fine - then I had the most horrific headache I've ever experienced and it was weird too, everything just didn't feel right. Went into hospital for codeine and was kept in. My bp was very high, protein++++ in urine, blood tests were well out of normal range. Consultant said it'd been coming on gradually since around 28 weeks, but no one (least of all me) had thought "pre-eclampsia".

My advice is to keep an eye on things. If anything feels not quite right just go in to be checked. I really wish I'd gone in when I'd had my first bad headache (around 30 weeks), or even when the flashing lights started or when I realised my baby wasn't moving quite as much. It's so important to keep being checked. My sister had pre-eclampsia too, but mw kept saying she was fine, even though she looked really swollen - wasn't until after her baby was delivered and the swelling went down that the mw was shocked at how much had been swelling and not her weight!

Hi jenny, if your still concerned I would go back to labour ward. I went to GP feeling quite ill at 37 weeks in first pregnancy & BP was 211/101 ( usually 116/69), I got very ill very quickly & was sent by ambulance to women's hospital, where I was immediately induced. I was diagnosed with severe PE, all was fine in end, but better to be safe than sorry x

I had the same symptoms as you and was also worried about this, went to the dr for usual checks and got told blood pressure and urine was normal.
Although my blood sugar levels were slightly low and they are testing me for being aneamic , they think not eaten enough is making me become faint and dizzy and possibly causing the headaches xx
