When do i start potty trainning Dior?
what is the recommended age? does any one no?
i feel she is no where near ready she just seems like a baby to me?

when did you potty train? how long did it take??

any tips?

You have a while yet hun, they say about 2 years but sometimes that's too early for some children. I started mine when thay were 2 and it took a couple of months to get them dry,a bit longer to get them dry through the night but I was really lucky with both of them. You will be able to start Dior next summer so she can run around with no nappy on which will help. I just kept on saying do you need a wee wee and they would run and sit on their potty and if they did anything in there just make a really big deal out of it,they soon pick it up and get so excited when they go. It's a bit messy with a few accidents but you will be fine. xx

i read somewhere that if you start too early its pointless as they dont learn properly, i intend to do matthew by 2 at the latest i think it all depends on them and how mobile etc they are. My SIL didnt get my niece out of nappies until she was nearly 4!! Now way am i changing nappies at 4 years old!

Brooke was just over 2 when i started, she was 2 in the january and i started her in the easter holidays! It worked a treat she took to it straight away! But at the time i was at college and when she went back to creche she started wetting herself as she was too busy playing!

I decided to leave her till the summer hols and i got her dry then! It was so much easier in the summer she would run around in the garden, and run in when she needed the potty! It was so cute!

I think you have an idea when they are ready as brooke used to tell me if she had a dirty nappy she couldn't stand it!

Thats from my experience tho, every child is different!

my aunt potty trained my cousin in a week she didnt leave the house for the week and got her used to going no problems

Watch Dior for cues so you know she is ready. If you push theem too early it can make potty training scary for them, Diopr will let you know when she is ready :D

so im not to take any notice of the woman at the nursery that says i should have her potty trainned by 18months

Dior points to her napy and says "stinks" when she has done a poo. lol thats because when ever i change it i say "errrrr stinks"
but she seems to young to understand what a pottyis and will prob just use it for a hat

but please keep the tips on succesful potty training coming.
then il be ready when the time is right :D

Hope this is of some use

Most kids show an interest in potty training between the ages of 2 and 3. If your child shows 2 or more of these signs they may be ready to potty train

* They are interested in watching you use the toliet and helping you flush.
* They are uncomfortable in dirty diapers and wants them changed.
* They regularly has dry diapers in the morning or stays dry during naps.
* They let you know when they need to use the potty.
* They begin to develop a predictable peeing and pooping schedule.

I was panicing about it myself, eveyone used to say u'll know when hes ready, and i did Kai used to take his nappy off he used to moan about wearin them in the end i just went with it an he was dry within a week really, i did give him a clean (obviously) potty to play with to try get him used to it seemed to work also bought one of them toilet seats, he seemed to prefer usin toilet rather that potty!

I started Jess when she was around 2 1/2 cos she had to be dry to start nursery. Cos she was ready i found it really easy and she hardly had any accidents. She wasn't dry through the night till just before her 4th birthday  , i tried her earlier but she wasn't ready so she was quite late with that but she never wet the bed so think she was well ready. Think she would of been earlier but we lived in a house with no upstairs toilet the we moved and a week or 2 later she was dry.

i potty trained kurt when he was about 2. I intend to it around the same age with beth but i have already bought her a potty and i leave it in the living room during the day just so that she is used to it being about she has just started to sit on it (still with nappy and clothes on) but its getting her used to sitting on it which i figure can only help when i do start to potty train her

i thought it was about 1.5 potty training lol
thank you dionne for asking this as i have often wondered about it, and now i know

zack is 2 1/2 and hes just started really getting the hang of it. I did try potty trainning him just before his 2nd birthday but it was pointless. Hes really good now tho, he understands more. I tried him on the toilet, but he never got there in time, so i got him a potty and becuse its in the same room he uses it all of the time.

Hi there
My daughter was 16 months dry night and day but there is no general golden rule as when to do it as all children are different.
What i did (and we have the weather now!) is took the nappy off my daughter and put a potty in the hall and one in either the lounge or kitchen. I literally let her walk around with nothing on her bottem half and left her to her own devices in the sense when she wanted to go she went (obviousley I had the mop at the ready!) every time my Daughter went for 1 0r 2 I would prompt the potty towards her until she realised she ahd to sit and do the business on it. I also put some lemonade (only little amount) in the bottom of potty and if she did a tiny wee it made a fizzy noise that she loved!!

Bottom line (excuse pun) is they will get it a lot easier than you think and if you are relaxed then it will come easier.

One tip for night-time I found is to use pampers care-mats they are so good and makes little one more confident.
Hope this has helped a little

thats a fab idea :D

thats a good idea will remember that

is it true toilet training boys is harder than girls?

Dior drinks so much juice, she always seems to be thirsty she goes to bed with 3 bottles of juice and they are all gone by morning  i have to change her nappy 3 times during the night else all her bedding is soaked???

how is it ever going to change? i dont mind her drinking loads as its great for her but she is always thirsty?
