Morning,

Myself and my partner have been trying now for a few weeks (not a long time in the grand scheme I understand) and she is now 6-7 days over her due date and she has other symptoms, tender breasts.

Given this we did a clearblue test (non digital) and it appears to come back positive, it was a very faint line however from the googling we have done, the boldness of line is irrelevant as it can only be generated by the pregnancy hormone.

Just to be on the safe side we got one of the clearblue digital tests and to our surprise this came back not pregnant..

We are a little confused obviously, given her symptoms and the first test we are a little lost.

Is it common for this sort of thing to happen in the early days? She has been drinking a lot of water recently and could that in anyway of diluted the hormone in her urine to undetectable levels? All tests were done first thing in the morning.

Thanks in advance !

With clearblue digis you need more HCG in your system then a normal test. I think clearblue is 30miU where as most other test are 15-25miU.
Try another normal test, (first response early detection is the best) alot of people do not use blue dye tests as they are more likely to get evap lines on them (making the test appear positive, when its actually negative) so preferably use pink dye ones.

Or it could be a chemical pregnancy, where you actually are pregnant but sadly lose the pregnancy very early on (you usually get your period though) one of the signs of a chemical is pregnancy tests is switching between positive and negative.

Definitely test again with first morning urine, or you could hold your pee for 3-4 hours with no fluid and test (some people get better results this way) xx

Hi!

Thanks for the prompt and detailed response! I had no idea regarding the different "miU"s involved but that could well be the reason.. I am starting to wonder if the faint lines we saw on the non digi one were evaporation lines although that wouldn't explain the physical symptoms. I shall keep you posted!

Thanks!

PB has all the knowledge, you're in good hands! I would be wary of symptoms though - I had (or thought I had) symptoms right before every period, and then when I finally got pregnant didn't have any until I was past six weeks. If I have learnt anything from this forum though, it's that everyone is very different. Good luck!

Hey!

Took your advice and tried a more sensitive test, first responder and it brought up two lines much clearer than the clearblue ones!! I believe the miU for this test could detect as low as 12.5 opposed to the 30 on the clearblue digital!

Thanks for the advice!

Congratulations, if you want to do the digi and see the weeks I would try next week :) x
