Hi Mummies,

Wondering if any of you lovely ladies had Polyhydramnios during your pregnancies?

I have just found out I have it and after doing some research I must admit I'm freaked baby has something majorly wrong with her :(

I have heard it can also mean nothing and baby just has an extra big swimming pool but I'm so scared that there is something wrong with her kidneys or tummy or they may have missed some defect on the 20 week scan.....

Help! Any of your stories good or bad if you have experienced this would be appreciated....

Thanks!

Hi there!

I remember making a very very similar post to this when I was about 30 weeks pregnant. I googled Polyhydramnios and scared myself wittless!!!!

My AFI was very high and above normal range so I had to keep going back for scans. It remained high until week 38 when they said it seemed normal. Often your fluid levels drop towards the end.

Anyway - the reassuring part - my baby is perfect!! No problems at all. I know Tillytots had the same problem. She has a lot on at the moment, so not sure if she'll get to post. But her little man is just gorgeous too!!

Try not to worry - Google is a nightmare when you're pregnant - stay away!!!! :D

Thanks for your response Happy Bunny....

I shall def stay away from Google!

im sorry i cant help iv never heard of it.

but i agree bout staying away from google- after i had oedema, raised BP and protein in my water at around 35 weeks- i googled pre-eclampsia and thought me and my daughter were gonna die :( stay away from google hun im sure all will be ok

Hi there Cleo100

I am very naughty as I so rarely post but I read the forum everyday. I am 33 weeks preg with twin girls and I have been told that one of my twins has too much water around her.

Like you I googled and again like you have completely and utterly scared myself half to death - crying and carrying on!!! I spoke to my consultant about it in detail and most of the time there is no reason for this at all - it is just one of those things

The internet and google etc are absolutely dreadful and I seriously do not google medical things after this as it is just tooo frightening!!

We will be fine - will they scan you again soon:???

lots of love

Loo x

I had big baby/bump and excess fluid and I think (correct me if i'm wrong Sar) Tillytots had it with James, and we both have healthy babies!!

Definately agree with the others - DO NOT Google it hehe. I had Olyhydromanios - Low amniotic fluid - Which was diagnosed at 20 weeks, and we scared ourselves shitless with what we read on Google about it! I know it's the oppposite to you, but my daughter was absolutely fine. She also only had 2 arteries in her umbillical cord instead of 3 so I was convinced something bad was happening and she wouldn't survive. We had scans every month, sometimes every 2 weeks depending on the AFI level but everything was always good and she was born at 38+1 gestation perfectly happy! Good luck :D
