Hello ladies Im going to be a first time mum in 80 days im really nervous about a vaginal birth I need some advice on birth options my midwife is a crock of shit im jusr scared and nervous I keep thinking about a elective cesarean xx help

What's concerning you in particular Hun, pain relief options? Labour positions? Possible complications? May be able to help further if you add a bit more info?xx

Things going wrong lady garden never returning to normal everything im scared its the unknown xx

You have quite a few options to be honest. Are there any antenatal classes in your area? If your midwife isn't helpful, then they could be a great place to go and talk things out. I had my first in the States, induction with epidural, but ended with a section. This time around I am going for a vaginal birth with an epidural. I prefer to be in a hospital setting, and have said I want to be able to walk/move around until I am ready for the epidural. Personally, I'm not a fan of gas and air because it makes me very dizzy and when I have pain I like to try and focus through it.

I know all of that probably wasn't much of a help. But I'm sure the other ladies will be along soon with some great info for you :)

I have one antenatal class and thats in june a month before im due from 9.30-3.30 :/ xx

That scares me too Hun! There are things you can do to try and avoid tearing etc such as perineal massage (I found out about it at ante natal class) have a google, there are some videos on YouTube too (on a model not too graphic lol!)

I've also heard that births in water have less incidence of tearing too, I'm hoping a birthing pool will be available when I come to labour as I'm allergic to a lots of strong pain meds (codeine, pethidine, morphine, diamorphine etc etc!) and I do not want an epidural for fear of feeling too restricted.

A c-section is fairly major surgery Hun, personally I would try to avoid it if I could having had surgery when I was 14 weeks pregnant I found the recovery period difficult and would have really struggled with a newborn! I know a lot of ladies have had really positive c section experiences though. (hopefully they'll be along with some advice too)

Have you looked into hypobirthing? I know lots of ladies swear by it! Xx

Yeah I want a water birth I did mention to midwife I specifically want that and I should hope its on a model lol and yeah I want to find out ive found one free hypnobirthing online xx

Have to admit I was a wee bit scared to search perineal massage for fear of what I may see lol! :-)
I found the MW didn't discuss labour until much later on in pregnancy, I didn't go to antenatal class til 35 weeks and MW didn't mention a birth plan til 36 weeks. Just seems to be how it goes!
Sounds like a birth pool may be a good option for you Hun, hopefully there are some ladies on here with previous experience! Xx

Yeah I can image Hun lol I'm scared about the perineal massage what with sticking two thumbs in etc lol xx

Ok, the best thing you can do is to try and let go of the fear. I was like you with my first and was just scared throughout but with my second I had no fear, really, and ended up with a pain free birth, honestly. I was determined not to be scared and to even try to enjoy it, so I talked myself into describing the sensations of labour rather than just think 'I'm in pain, this hurts etc'. So try and do whatever it takes to reduce your fear. Be it, hypnobirthing, hospital visits, birth programmes, whatever works for you. You'll be fine! Honestly! X

Everyone is scared of labour. Mine was 12 hours very complicated and then emergency c section. There are pros and cons to both. Your tummy is really strange after c sec there is recovery and all that to think about too. Personally I would have chose a natural labour if I could but I understand your concerns. Your lady parts will go normal again! Only advice I can give is to try and be as open as possible to what happens during your labour because not often does it completely go how you imagine but thats Deffinately not to say it won't be a healthy uncomplicated one.

I was induced and ended up with an epidural, I managed without for 5 hours but I had a way to go so I gave in. It was lovely, I had a number of top ups as it wears off after about an hour. It had worn off and I told them and she checked me before I was given any more and the head was there so I pushed without anything. I tore slightly as midwife she would cut me if she wasn't out with next contraction so I fired her out! I had 2 stitches and I think downstairs is better than before! X

I had a traumatic birth. Failed ventouse leading to episiotomy and forceps. No time for an epidural just a few numbing injections !!! However I healed very well and very quickly. No changes to my lau area what so ever of anything a bit neater after being stitched up haha !!! Hospital was brilliant lots of debriefing after to check I understood why everything happened and why they did what they did. Aftercare by midwifes etc also good. You will be fine honestly and your baby is worth everything. I said straight after I was NEVER having kids again and I honestly can't wait now till it's the right time to try again :) xx

Not sure u can av a c section when there is no medical reason. Everyone is scared about Labour 1st time. I had a episiotomy and forceps del. I don't think down there will ever be the same. But if it was a choice of my son bein here an health or my bits bein perfect anno what I'd chose. Each Labour is difficult so no1 knows wars gonna happen. But once ur baby is here u will av other priorities an Will wonder y u was so worried !!

Alright calm your self down I'm only saying cos my pregnancy has been straight forward

My pregnancy was perfect to. Untill 38 weeks when I had reduced movement. Then again at 41 weeks. So was induced which wasn't really explained. Had a epidural which I swore I wouldn't do !! Baby heartbeat dropped and had a traumatic del !! But he's 11 weeks now and I'd deffo have another. If you are that worried make sure u have baby in hospital that will make u more at ease straight away. But you really can't say what will happen. And the midwife s an doctors will only do stuff like episiotomy and forceps if it's really needed. Am sure ull b fine !
