I am very excited to get to meet my baby, but the only thing I am not quite so keen on is not being able to work!!

I work from home - do I stand any chance at all to do some work as well as look after the baby? I tend to get a bit depressed when I don't manage to squeeze any in (i.e. holidays!)

Are you planning to breastfeed? If you are you prob have no chance for a couple of months unless you can do your job from a computer (I'm feeding just now lol!), multi tasking! To be honest I love just cuddling and playing with my baby, and hate the thought of working, I'm normally a bit of a work o holic too but having a baby does change how you feel, at least for a while anyway!

I do plan on breastfeeding, but I was hoping baby might cooperate and go to sleep every now and then. Is that a bit optimistic? LOL!!!

It's probably going to be easier when baby is first born tbh, even though you will be very tired because they do feed quite frequently, so I used to have oscar latched on and use the laptop. There was quite a lot of sitting around in those first few weeks, then getting out more. Obviously as baby gets older and needs more stimulation your time will get more limited, but you just find a routine that suits you. Baby has to sleep sometime!!!

xxxxx

They do sleep but when they do you either need to sleep or you run round house like a mad women trying to get the chores done before they wake and demand the boob again!

It is possible to do a bit - I bf and marked papers for an exam board on laptop when my LO was a few weeks old, was a few weeks work and I managed but it was hard and stressful and stopped me just enjoying her as much as I was wishing her to sleep so I could get it done.

I agree with can't stop, I forgot I had to update some drawings for a building warrant when Kye was 10 days old and I really hated doing it and felt guilty, I also couldn't concentrate properly, just wanted to sit cuddling him instead! Just see how you feel x

all depends on your baby tbh!

You could have a totally relaxed and chilled out baby (my first was) then my 2nd definitely was not and there is no way in the world I would have got any form of work done with her!

I'm sure I won't even remember what work is when baby comes anyway!! I think I'll have quite a bit on my plate trying to figure out how everything works.
