to be fair i think most us who hadnt planned the bubba drank before they knew! i was binging heavily on spirits...

I can honestly say I was drinking every night until I found out at I was pg 5 weeks 3 days.

Haven't touched a drop since though so pray all is ok, funnily enough I don't even miss alcohol so might not go back to it after.

I'm sure I'm going to have some bad dreams tonight.



Best not to worry too much now I guess, whats done is done.

You're both right, I think most people do drink before they know..............but its so hard not too worry about every little thing!

babes think about it this way the only children they mentioned that had FAS were children of parents who drank very heavily throughtout the whole pregnancy, alcoholics basically..i drank before i knew i was pg! me and alan used to drink quite alot of wine ...

on these programmes these are folk who go out and get completely lashed either most nights or every weekend for 9 months so dont worry about it mate. On the other hand I know someone who claimed she didnt know she was pregnant till he periods stopped at 7 months (previously still had period and no symptoms and no real weight gain) and she was drinking and doing drugs up till 7 months and her baby was fine (and I am in no way saying it right or anything but its a different toss of the coin you see)

these programmes are designed to scare tbh

I thought the programme was great, i think it was a bit shocking, like the baby in the tequila bottle and the "startled" babies, but i think it gave great facts and figures. I admit i too was drinking nearly everynight until i found out i was pregnant at nearly 5 weeks, and since then i have had the odd 1 can of carling on a sat night or half a guiness in the pub. At the end of the day, i feel as that woman said - some people can't have children and seeing what my sister has been through, losing 2 precious daughters after not touching a fag or a drink, thats what really pi**es me off, that people take a child for granted and risk the loss of a child. I know someone who used to get pi**ed to the point she was throwing up and if i knew her that well, i would have rubbed the pics of my dead nieces in her face and told her how lucky she wa

Sorry for the long rant, bit of a touchy subject when people risk their little ones for the sake of a pi** up. When you become pregnant, you become a mother, and that means you can no longer be selfish!

I totally agree.
If anything a few of my friends have said I've gone too far the other way, but I don't care! I could never knowingly put my baby at risk. You are talking about 9 little months out of your entire life.

In the program: What did people think about the state in amercia that made it illegal for pregnant women to drink, smoke or do drugs???

this worried me a little. i too drank before i found out. i remember having quite a few beers i think the weekend before.

since i found out ive been pretty much T-Total. ive had the occasional sip.

i dont see it worth risking my babies health.

with xmas coming up, ive decided to try alcohol free beer ect. as it will be abit annoying with everyone drinking and me drinking coke or something lol.

i like the idea of it being illeagal to drink during pregnancy. but i also think there has to be some limits. like 1 unit allowed a week. but it would be near impossible to police.

was a good program. glad i watched it. really hit home for me even though im not drinking

i was pregnant 4 2 xmass and new years and 2 bdays(my 18th!!!!) i never missed being pissed. it sickens me to see pregnant people drinkin and smoking.
