I'm 23 weeks on weds with DCDA twins and about a week ago I noticed pain beneath my bikini area when pressure applied (it was actually my cat walking across me that made me yelp). Sat night I started to feel tremendous pressure there and yesterday and today it hurts when I move. When I sit, go to stand up, walk about or roll over in bed it is really sore. Didn't go to work today as resting legs up seems to be the only thing that helps.
Mw told me to see my gp as she suspected pelvic girdle pain then went on to say it was quite early to have it and it will get worse. Great
Has anyone had this or got this? What helps to stop the pain? I'm already getting back, heel and leg pain from working :(
I really would rather not take loads of pain killers if I can help it as I still have a while to go

I had only mild PGP and for me it didn't get worse. Mine started around 16 weeks so I'm surprised she thought it was early especially since you're carrying twins. Things I found helpful were keeping moving as if I sat for too long it was like everything just seized up!! Pillow between your legs for sleeping. Lots of ladies swear by pregnancy pillows but I found a regular one was fine. Trying to distribute your weight evenly is also good especially when getting out the car etc. I didn't find physio at all helpful but yours sounds worse than mine so it's probably worth getting referred.

I had PGP in my last pregnancy, and unfortunately for me it did progressively get worse. I ended up going to physio, which wasn't much help if i'm honest but they did recommend a support belt which helped. Also, i found that keeping my legs together when moving helped. So when turning over in bed try to do with with your ankles together, same when standing. Also, when going up the stairs if you do it sideways, like a crab, it hurts less. Getting in and out of a car i put a bin liner over the seat so that i could sit and spin both legs in at the same time. I was prescribed codeine but i was too scared to take them. Probably should have done as i ended up on crutches :(

The more precautions you take now will help minimise how bad it gets in the long run.
