Hi ladies sorry it's such an early post but I have had period pains for a while now and I had a swab done up at the unit last Monday, I got a phone call early this morning I have a severe thrush infection which has royally peed me off but oh well I just need to get my prescription the joys of pregnancy. Just if you feel like your in pain please get checked I don't want anyone else going through this too. I had no idea I had it as its inside not around my foof, tmi warning hence why I have so much cm. is it common to get this in pregnancy? I've never once had thrush. Also hubby and I had sex the Saturday just gone so now does he need to get checked too? Xxx

Thanks for the warning, it's always good to be aware xx

I always thought that thrush was supposed to be itchy and the cm kind of lumpy.

Hope you feel better soon x

Yeah so did I, she said it depends on how far back into your foof it can be and it doesn't always itch either :/ never had it before so I was very much unaware but apparently the longer it goes on it can give you aches and pains like a period so I don't even know how long I've had it for either. Xxx

Thrush is totally common in pregnancy and does no harm to you or baby, no matter how far up your foof it it. Babies are often born wih thrush and go on a week's course of meds to clear it up.

I had thrush for 6 months solid throughout last pregnancy, it was uncomfortable and treatment didn't work. Hubby had to be treated thoroughly also because it gets passed between the two of you. Had increased cm so constantly had a pad on. It went after I had him. Some women react badly to the high levels of progesterone in their bodies during pg which can cause thrush long-term, other women just develop a dose of it naturally. Just wash your bits daily with unperfumed soap, apply the treatment as instructed, avoid sex and it'll be gone within a week.

Thanks kumber it just wasn't what I expected to hear on a phone call this morning. I feel a bit meh over it but once I get my prescription it'll go xxx

Hubby will probably need treated too as you can pass it back and forth x

Eeep I'll tell him once he comes home he's gonna love that! I actually got really upset I know it's just thrush and it's common for women to get it but I've never had anything like this not even had an sti so it's upset me that I have something I can pass to him and then get it again myself. I know I'm being daft but it's just so unfair. I feel for the ladies who get this 3 times or more in pregnancy xxx

Don't feel bad lovely it's just one of the many joys of pregnancy.

I have suffered with thrush on and off for years, it is more annoying than anything else but is very easily treated. I have it at mo - always get it in pregnancy but luckily me and OH not having sex any more so we are not passing it back and forth lol x

I know it's not that much of a big deal but I just feel so blegh over it we only had sex once so once I get treated and he does all should be well I hope xxx thank you too for reassurance xxx

Its unusual for guys to pass it back to you, they don't tend to get infections of it. It wouldn't hurt for him to use a bit of cream on his willy though while you do your treatment - he can use some of yours.

I had a UTI a few weeks ago with very few symptoms other than a random temperature (which is hard to pick out among the pregnancy flushes), feeling crappy with cramps all over my bump. Its worth getting checked!

I've let him know he's gonna use my cream and get sorted just incase I can get back from him it's always best to be a little bit cautious. I really don't want this again. Midwife said I need my treatment asap as baby can get it if I go into labour? I don't think I'll go yet but it was a bit of a worry xxx

Baby can get it but a lot of babies are born with thrush even when mum doesn't realise she has it. It's completely normal and does no harm to baby.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely keep it in mind. Hope your pains ease off soon now your sorted xxx

Thanks Hun, just thought I'd let people know just incase xxx

My baby gave me thrush of the nipple lol. He had it in his mouth and we sort of just passed it back and forth. It's a pretty uncomplicated (although unpleasant) ailment - just a bit of extra yeast. Don't panic, you won't harm your baby. You won't harm your husband either, but he might itch a bit haha
