Perineal massage

For those of you massaging your perineum - what are you using to massage with? I've read somewhere it says olive oil. I know this sounds dumb, but is this the same olive oil that you cook with?

Olive oil is fine. And yes, the same stuff you cook with

I used extra virgin stuff

I bought almond carrier oil and some rose oil but he arrived before I had the chance to use it

yep i used olive oil the first and only time i tried it.. gave up after that!

I got some stuff from m-care, contains olive oil and calendula, bloody faff doing it though

i did it once, well OH did. he was 'down there' and suddenly i got this really horrible pain, so i asked him what the hell he was doing & he said 'oh, i thought i was just supposed to shove my fingers in as far as i could.'
it really stung when we did it properly though, and i wouldn't want to be sore for the actual birth!
