hi girls i saw this was for long term tcc. i think i fall into that.

i was jsut wondering if there was anyone else who had been trying the same time as me.

iv been trying all in all for 18months. however in February i did fall pregnant to loose it in march. so it was 10months of trying before (2months pregnant) and 6 months since.

im healthy (i think) im young eat well exercise ect my partner is healthy to. i dont think we have fertility issues, i just dont know why it takes so long to happen!!!


has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Hi Minxies, welcome to the forum, everyone is really nice here. I've been trying 18 months too. Had 2 miscarriages and been diagnosed with PCOS and uterine polyps. I'm having a little operation next week to get the polyps removed and then hopefully in the next few months looking at treatments for PCOS.
Have you seen the GP yet? That would be your first step - once you have been trying 12 months you can see a specialist. There might be nothing wrong, the good news is you know you can get pregnant xxxx

hi, im sorry for your loss's. well i was told the gp wouldnt help me cuz i can get pregnant? because even though it has been 18months its only been 6 months ttc from the last mc?

did you know there was something wrong? or was it after investigating you realised you had PCOS and polyps ?

I'm sure you could see the doctor, its overall time you have been trying to conceive, especially if you feel there is a problem.
I kind of guessed I had some problems when things went wrong, just had a feeling I suppose. But yes then I got diagnosed once I had seen a fertility specialist. I'd deffo recommend going to gp sooner rather than later if you think there is a problem - it can be a long wait to see a specialist. But also, like I said you might be fine, lots of women have 1 miscarriage and your body might be just taking its time to get back to normal. You can have blood tests with gp before being referred so could find any problems there. I know the waiting sucks.... xxx

i went to the gp before i had my first pregnancy as it was taking so long and they offered me a hormone blood test and my partner a seamen test but just as we were about to have them i fell pregnant so didnt need to have them in the end. i think if nothing happens this month i may go back and ask again

i dont feel like there is anything wrong, it just bemuses me that it takes so long? so maybe there is an underlying problem.

Hiya Hun,

Welcome!

You need to start by having a number of tests with your GP as they can't refer you until they have done them.

They are-

CD 1 Bloods, FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone, stimulates eggs) and LH (lutenizing hormone, makes you ovulate)

CD21 bloods, Progesterone, level is checked to confirm proper ovulation.

Semen analysis

Abdominal ultrasound

STD swabs and smear.

I think they should refer you anyway.....

How old are you? if you are younger than 30 really you should get pregnant a bit quicker than the year anyway.

What are your cycles like, how long are they etc?

hey hun,

thanks for that info i talked to my partner and we said if it dosnt happen this month we will book straight away in with the DOC, id love to get some answers to why its taking so long and especially would love a solution.

Im 20 so young and my partner is 28.

my cycles are completely normal 28days like clock work.
im healthy as far as i know and thats why is to frustrating.

i will definitely speak to the doctor this time and demand i get seen i think lol.

Hiya ive been on here 20 months TTC and its a frustrating game.....but we are all here for your up's and down's!

Your having regular 28 day cycles....(lucky you) have you tried doing OPK's to see if you are ovulating?

I'd defo push docs for 21 day bloods and semen analysis at the VERY least. Some doctors do need poking with a very big stick tho so be persistent. If you need lessons in that ask Maybe Baby and Louise B

Maybe Baby - reading your post above just answered my question as to what my CD2-4 bloods are for. FSH and LH, having them done tomorrow morning Only ever had my CD21 xxx

Welcome to the bunch of ltttc part x we have many ups and downs but all here for each other x

I've been 15 mnths and have recently been diagnosed with pcos, hypothyroid and possible low progesterone and I didn't know any of this before trying and not getting anywhere x
Found out most things by cd3 bloods then had scan to confirm pcos x x

yeah i am regular and fine with my cycles which i know is lucky, i do opk's already do it at the right time in the right positions on the right days. i know i can get pregnant which i know is also very lucky but also very strange to why it takes so long!

i think your right girls i need to go docs and see whats happening with us, ill bring my big poking stick to the doctors lol

nope no supplements and he has the occasional glass of wine every couple weeks but nothing else he eats very healthily

Ahh that's good you're having those bloods Chaz, FX for the results.

Minxies- You might find that your doc is less willing to help you because of your age, make sure you point out that you should be more fertile so perhaps it's more likely something could be wrong.( Not saying that there is Hun but you might as well use that point)

Aw hun that must be awful . For me i think more then anything its more just a waiting game. it does hurt though when you see how easily other people can get pregnant. and it seems that alomst everyone else in the world is pregnant but you. its good to know im not alone and not only that but im also very fortunate, as my cycle is regular and i have been pregnant before.

It is painfull at the moment cos my sister and my best friend are both 10wks with their 2nd! And my best friend wasn't even trying!!

I keep telling myself Chin up tho it will happen eventually x
I'm 25 do have time on my side- hubby is 44 tho and I worry about him but he has had 2children with his ex wife so I'm sure he'll be fine x
