Hi all,

I've not posted in a while as I've tried to keep my mind off trying to conceive however I'm now getting really concerned that I haven't had a period since early September.

Long story short I've been trying to get pregnant for a few years and went to my GP, all tests came back fine apart from bloods which told me I had a hormone imbalance and pcos. However the ultrasound showed I had no cysts. I should also mention my periods were 6-8 weeks apart and irregular but I would still at least have a period every couple of months.

Fast forward a few months and we were referred to a fertility clinic on the NHS (by this time my last period was about 6 weeks before the appointment (so I didn't mention anything to the nurses as this was normal for me). The ultrasound showed I had a cyst on my right ovary. I just thought maybe the first ultrasound didnt pick it up and not that it could have developed recently.

Anyway I'm now quite concerned as I still haven't had a period (4 months now) which is really weird for me and I'm wondering whether it's down to this cyst thats suddenly developed? I read that stress can cause them to grow? I have been under immense stress these past couple of months so now Im stressing even more that Im so stressed.

I should mention that I've spotted twice in 4 months (not red - more like watery brown for 1 day 2 months apart). Which both times I've thought could be implantation bleeding but I got BFNs.

Should I be mentioning this to my doctor? Is stress a huge factor?

Hi :)

Some Dr's will say that spotting can be classed as your bleed. The Ovarian cyst can cause issues with your cycle, I have polycystic ovaries but had 1 cyst at 7cm which made me bleed between cycles, and cycle arrived early then late.

Stress as you know can mess you cycles up regardless of the cyst so it's worth trying to take some time out to relax, and speak to your gp.

I'm confused how they have said you have pcos but no cysts. Have you had a 2nd opinion?

Hi there I just wanted to say never give up hope of having a baby when you have PCOS.

I had always had problems with my cycle and had all the symptoms of PCOS, the worst being excessive hair and weight gain.

At the worst I went 15mths without a period and was finally diagnosed in 2002.My GP was really rubbish and because at the time I was only 21 didn't really talk to me about the implications it could have on my fertility. I had done lots of reading and TBH has convinced myself it was prob's unlikely I would ever be a mummy.

Cutting the story short I met the most amazing person and we have been together 5 1/2yrs and had started to think that in the new year we should give it a go and start trying for a baby-not really thinking it would happen and preparing the see the doc-well my body had other ideas and today I have had my dating scan and I am 14weeks pregnant. To say we are in shock and beyond over the moon is an understatement!!!

Wishing all you ladies with PCOS the luck I have had. Fingers crossed you all get your happy ending.XXXXX
