Im looking to buy a baby book for when my baby is born that tells me EVERYTHING lol, i.e. information on feeding, development, routines, bathing, illness, etc, etc, etc.
Can anyone reccommend a good one that has been published recently? I want one that is fairly modern, ta in advance x

I've heard the baby whisperer is quite good, but I haven't read it so don't know that much about it. :)

Ive read bits of Gina Ford, Baby Whisperer and Supernanny. You wont really appreciate till you have the baby though how rigid these books seem. By all means read them but dont fall into the trap of thinking this is how you must do things. You will fall into your own routine and picks up hints and tips from these books but I think they are very rigid, especially Gina Ford. I had that book before I had Jess and went through a panicky phase when I bought her home as I thought 'i just cant do this'. I did develop a routine though and it was fab, just flexible.

Remember Jaidy that you don't actually NEED a book, I didn't have one with my first, and we are here to help you with any questions you have ;)

you need to purchase a wild goat tomorrow Jade and spend the rest of your pregnancy taming it. :D By the time its tamed and stopped eating and trampling everything in sight you'll be ready fo anything including a baby and small child :D

actually to save time and money you may be able to purchase a Goat herding book from EBAY. This will give you lots on helpful tips.

:rotfl: Budge!

Jaidy I have just ordered "what to expect in the first year" from Amazon, a couple of people reccommended it to me and it had good reviews. I'll let you know what I think when I get it :)

Have you tried your local library? If you have the authors name and the name of the book they should be able to get it in stock for you. I was surprised at some of the titles our library can get in.

Skatty, I bought that book yesterday whilst I was doing my weekly Asda shop - I have only flicked through it, but it seems quite in depth. I think it was about £7 if you are interested Jaidy, so bit of a bargain?!

I've got that book too it's good :)

I think il go for that one then!!!

I know all you guys will be here to help when I have the baby but id still like to do a bit of forward reading so I can get a better idea of things; im not gonna take it all too seriously though. Just feel I need a bit of bedtime reading.

Thanks for all your suggestions girls x

Jaidy the book came this morning and looks great, covers everything including introducing your baby to your pet :D

I have got birth and beyond. I love it, it covers pregnancy, birth and the first year and also has a section in the back about illnesses, common problems etc and how to treat these with alternative therapies. I would be lost without it.

My main book of refrence is Miriam Stoppards Complete Baby book, its the biggest selling ababy book in this country and covers everything, its like the ultimate refrence book, all the basic how to's, covering up to the age of 5. Onformation on development in every way and how to encourage it, and ever first aid in the back. I couldnt have managed without it!
