Hello

Its now over three weeks since I've given birth, I tore, had an episotomy and had a forceps delivery. I am still in a fair amount of pain. I have had two courses of antibiotics as the wound came open and got infected. Has anyone else experienced this? The wound is still open a far amount but all I keep getting told is it will heal.

Thanks

Gill x

Hi I had episiotomy and tear during forcep delivery and was in pain until 6 weeks and even after that and twinges. My midwife said it is like a major operation and takes time. I'm all healed and fine now so it does heal just keep it dry and clean. I found laying on bed with nothing on bottom half with legs open helped. Not very dignified but feels good! X

Thanks it's so sore going to try that n avoid re stitching x

I had an episiotomy and forceps, I agree I found that trying to get air to it as much as possible really helped. Also after showering making sure it's really dry, I even used the hair dryer on cool to make sure. Make sure your pants don't rub and if you can don't wear tight trousers as this is irritate it.

Hope it all heals soon for you. Xx

With my first baby I had episiotomy and third degree tear after forcepts delivery. Took ages to heal, and some of my stitches burst due to having to lift my 9lb3 baby. I think it's because of where it is it just takes longer to heal.

I had a c-section with my second, and the healing from that was faster and less painful!

I gave birth 4 weeks tomorrow. I had an episiotomy and my stitches seperate a few days after the birth. I'm still sore down there, have been checked 3 times and told it all looks normal but over the last few days I've been having Achey pains in my ovary areas and a yellow discharge down below. I think my stitches have dissolved now as I feel but more "open" than before and have bled a little more. I'm going to the docs tomorrow, hopefully they'll do a swab and check if I've got an infection.

Has anyone else hAd Achey ovary pain??

I haven't had any ovary pain no just sore in episiotomy wound. They've done another swab, I have a canneston cream, more painkillers and got a gynacologists referral so waiting for that appointment coming though x

Why can't things just go smoothly for us?! I went to docs yesterday turns out I've got an infection, she's started me on antibiotics and I'm still anaemic so have been prescribed anotheronths worth of tablets. I just want to start feeling "normal" again!!!

Please say it gets easier:( I had a forcep delivery an ended with a 3rd degree tear too:(
That was 3weeks 2days ago an I've started to bleed when I poo:(
Not to mention I now have Mastitis.
I'm just so tired I can't enjoy my beautiful little girl as I'm so shattered.

Hope you feel better soon. Ask for a gynae referral, I persisted for one x

Had a look at mine today. It's been nearly five weeks and it still looks very open, worse than before but I assume the last of the stitches have now dissolved?? I think I will ask for gynae referral at my 6 week check x
