Pain "down there" after natural birth

Hey girls!!!

its been 5 weeks now since i had Ruby and although a couple of weeks ago it more or less stopped hurting "down there", it has come back with a vegence!!!! i have stopped bleeding but it is still really sore down there, especially when i go to the toilet, it stings like hell!!!!

Do you think i could have an infection or something or is it normal to still hurt after 5 weeks????

5 weeks does sound quite a long time. I'd probably get it checked if you're really worried.
I never had stitches so dunno if you did and it makes a difference.

hiya Lisa - yeah sorry forgot to mention i did have stitches, i had 3 tears.

Does still seem quite a long time, especially since it did calm for a while.

Hopefully someone who had stitches can put your mind at rest. But i would definately see your GP if it continues much longer.

Hey chick,

I had stitches internally & externally and they were still a bit sore after 6 weeks so I asked at the check and the nurse checked them & said they were fine so I think its just a case of some people take longer to heal than others. If your worried though it might be worth getting them checked incase you have an infection.

Plenty of salt water baths will help, I also used lavender in mine which seemed to help. When you've had a bath try to leave ur underwear off and let the area 'air' too for a little while if you can.

I had some bad internal tears with Tamzin and they can still sting a bit when I pee. It's usually when I haven't had enough water so I tend to drink a lot anf they don't hurt. Some tears can take a long while to heal hun. 5 weeks is nothing.

Could it be a urine infection?

I was given an episiotomy so I had stitches. I was also prepped for a c-section but doctor decided to give the forceps a quick try, thankfully it worked but I needed a catheter overnight. I didn't pee (or poo) for 6 days after but when I did it hurt so much. It smelt awful and I knew straight away it was a urine infection as I've had so many of them. I was sore for a couple of weeks and given anti-biotics. I can't even describe how sore it was to pee, I couldn't sit on the toilet for about 6 weeks. I had to hover above the bowl. The main cause my infection was the catheter though.
