First full day back at home on my own with G (after staying with parents for christmas) and he is being really hard work - he's been awake loads so hes over-tired, only slept when he's been in the sling and has constantly wanted to feed - he's been on and off my boobs for the last 2 hrs!!!!!! Everytime he comes off and I try to put him down in his basket he just screams and screams :wall2: Just dont think there is any milk left and I havent started expressing yet so cant even top him up, just have to hope he settles soon.

Does anyone else's LO's do this?

Mine does! :hugs: you ain't alone here hun!

Midwife this morning told me that newborns go thru a growth spurt every 10 days or so when they become insatiable and demanding a feed constantly. Eva is on the boob virtually every hour especially in the evenings till abt 1am. Last wed I was literally in a quivering heap on the floor crying and begging for a half hr rest! Gave her a bottle of formula that night and she slept for abt 5 hrs which was wonderful. Since then I have given her a 4oz bottle of aptamil every night and last night she slept thru till 7am :-).

Tegan was like this till she was about 4 weeks Hun, i would sit up with her on my Boob till 4am! it does get better Tegan now sleeps from between 8-9pm to between 5-6am She's now 10 weeks old x

Once we get through this I am defintely going to start expressing so my boobs dont have to take such a battering!
Just put him down so I could shove some food down my own throat and he screamed bloody murder. He's back feeding again after a very noisy nappy change but i just cant see how there is any milk there for him! Really hope this ends soon, he's not giving my body a chance to make more and i live in the sticks so nowhere open to even think of trying a formula feed!!

Isla has done this several times and it is really tiring - especially when she does it from about 11pm-2am!!

She was doing it until 4am in the first week so things are improving!

amelia did this a coule of days ago and midwife said it would be a growth spurt and not to worry as se would be getting milk even if u culdnt feel it and all the feeding will increase your suply not sure if u give formula whether ur supply would be affected or not

hoep he settles down for you

We survived the night but he did the same the next morning, in the end I got up threw some clothes on and stuck him in the car to go to the supermarket just to get out of the house, hadnt even managed a shower-eugh!
Did buy a couple of small cartons of ready made formula just to have in case of emergency, I think he was also over-tired and if I could have got his tummy full he would have gone off easier. Not intending to use them - just nice to know that I have a back up :)
Have managed to express a couple of ounces which are in the fridge ready to go, will stick some in the freezer if I get a chance to express anymore - a lot of the time he wants to drain both sides!
What with the fenugreek, oats, suckling and bit of expressing my milk supply has increased which is good, hoping I can start to build up a supply of expressed milk slowly.

I've also got some formula cartons - just in case!

I've started the expressing now to try and build up a supply!

Good to hear your milk supply is up Frankie. Blake was exactly as you described around 3 weeks and 5/6 weeks. Absolute nightmare when it's like that. I did the fenugreek, oats and slept when he slept and it really worked. Hope he's back to normal for you very soon xxx

am going through this too at the mo hun and G and Alex are only 1 day apart reassuring to know its normal even tho its so tiring and frustrating.

Yeah, thats what i think is great about this place - there is always someone who has been through it or is going through it at the same time so you dont feel alone or worried that you/your LO is abnormal, its such a great support.
