Hey Guys,

Im 27+5Wks and have put on 19kg (41lbs)??? Is this normal? i thought it was a Huge amount.
i was 60kg at my first midwife appt.

how much weight have you put on (sorry girls - i no its a sensitive subject)

I don't work in kg hun, but i think normal is 2-2.5 stone over the whole pregnancy..............haven't weighed myself recently but I know I've put on more than that :-(

just worked it out and its almost 3stone that ive put on :(

Hunny, don't worry..........I know that's easy for me to say but everyone is different and I know people thatt hacve put on 4 stone in pregnancy and now look amazing, not fat at all!!.........U don't know how much of it is water etc and even if it takes a while u will lose it after.........don't diet or do anything silly, just try and eat sensibly and keep as active as u feel able............this pregnancy lark is hard enough without having to fret over the weight gain! It is hard and I am dreading weighing myself but try to think of it as your body being life support for your LO and needing a lot of energy to do it........it's also laying fat stores down to support u to breastfeed afterward and we can all imagine how much energy we are gonna need to look after our babies when they get here. Don't beat yourself up hun........u are only human and we can't all be perfectly healthy and 'textbook' all the time xxx

Thank you :)
Yes i didnt realise how difficult being pregnant is, unfortunately i have SPD so being so immobile doesnt help with the weight gain.
I no everyone is different, and weight gain is different for everyone - i just didnt think i would gain this much lol
hopefully it is all water and ill go back to my slim size 8 afterwards haha Im not too bothered about my weight - as my little boy will be worth more than what i look like.
i cant wait for him to be here xx only 12 weeks to go

I'm having a boy too- hopefully any day now! :-)
I'm sure he will be more than worth it!.........SPD must be really hard hun, and def limits your exercise/activity levels..........just imagine how great u will feel in a 6 months when he is here and your starting to get back to your normal self again :-)

ah.. that must to great to no he is due any day now!! Congratulations :)
yeah it is really difficult - as im normally quite an active person, seems to of hit me quite hard :(
Also got my GTT (glucose) test tomorrow - so if positive then could be a reason why i have put on the weight (apparently have bigger babies if diabetic)
but all in all it will defiantley be worth it in 6 months!!! so excited...you must be beside yourself waiting for him to arrive :)

Good luck with GTT, if +ve that would def account for more weight.............I haven't had SPD or gestational DM so I have no excuse for weight gain other than I wasn't small before and have always put weight on easily and have found being PG hard, especially 1st and 3rd tri!

I am excited but also scared :-( (natural to be apprehensive tho I know.............but the close u get the more the reailty of labour etc sinks in!).............really don't want to end up waiting another 2 weeks and being induced!
xx

Haven't weighed myself this week but last count I had put on 2 and a half stone. I have had swelling so I'm hoping i've got a big baby and extra water as everyone seems to tell me that I don't look like I've put on anywhere but my bump.

Try not to worry, I put on 4 1/2 stone with my first pregnancy and went from a 8 to a 16! The weight came off quickly and I was back to normal after 9 months. 9 months to put on 9 months to lose it! It was totally different with this baby, I was very nauseous in tri 1 and lost a lot of weight so I'm now lighter than I was before I got pregnant, strange how it can be so different between pregnancies,

I made the same mistake the other day and also realised I had put on a lot more weight than I had thought, about as much as I was expecting to put on within the entire pregnancy. Bit of a shock - but then I decided to just not worry about it and enjoy my massive bump. There'll be plenty of time for dieting after the baby is born!

I have put on just over 2 stone so far (a massive amount for me as I usually weigh just under 8 stone) I still have 6 weeks to go and I know from my first pregnancy 2 years ago that I put on a stone in the last month. The bathroom scales have now miraculously gone missing! How amazing is that? Just got to avoid catching sight of myself in the mirror, especially when standing sideways. At least I know that with breast feeding I will be back in my pre pregnancy clothes within a month of the birth.

I've put on the same amount as you (started out at 62kg and now at 80/81kg) and that's with normal mobility and some exercise etc. No-one seems to be batting an eyelid at this so I've just been assuming that it's normal.

According to my MIL, with breastfeeding and some moderate exercise after the birth it really falls off so try not to worry :)

Don't worry, anything between 2 and 4 stone is completely normal x

That's slightly more reassuring :) thought I was gaining weight too quickly, will see what the midwife thinks tomorrow when I see her xx

I feel really bad now, Ive only put on 2.5kg. Ive had horrible morning ( all day) sickness and have barely eaten much at all. Im 29 weeks now have just gone up 1 size in my trousers because its bloody cold here now and I dont like drafts up my clothes so have opted for winter cords now that go over my bump instead of below it so I can tuck my winter layers in when Im out and about on the farm.

with my little boy I put on shed loads and I means stones and stones but this time its a girl and Ive put on only a couple of stone so hunni, stop worrying all the weight will come off and its worth it. I got rid of baby weight pretty soon by healthy eating and sensible exercise, I didnt try hard just was sensible and healthy xxx

I weighed 9.5 stone before baby and weight 10 stone exactly now, i did lose a stone through sickness in early pregnancy though. Was worried about my weight gain but had a scan last week for possible low lying placenta and was told baby measures exactly right for his gestation. :D
