1) Does everyone's bump 'drop' before birth? If it does tend to at about how many weeks or is it just very variable from person to person?

2) Does everyone get Braxton Hicks before birth? If so when do they start weeks wise?? Pretty sure I haven't had any of these yet and didn't know if they were compulsory before birth!! lol

3) Has anyone had cramp in their butt cheeks in the middle of the night????!!!! (Sorry about this last one but last night I was in agony, first one side then the other!! ha ha)

Pretty sure I'm a long way off yet (which I don't mind at the moment as I've only just finished work and want some 'me' time!!) but assumed all the above things would prep me and give me a sign. Am worried I won't get any of them and popping will be a big surprise!!! Cheers for your advice. xxx

Hey you!! Not sure about bump dropping as mine has always been quite low. At my 36 week appointment pips head was just a bit engaged

Braxton hicks- can't believe you've had none that you've felt. I get them all the time but don't think they're compulsory before birth

And I'm not much use for your butt cheek issues either!!

Most people don't feel Braxton hicks, so you've probably just not noticed them.

I didn't really feel like my bump dropped. Some folk who hadn't seen me for a while said it looked like it had, but I couldn't see or feel it.

Xxx

Thank you twinnie - but seriously the butt cheek thing is agony!!!

I think I'm carrying quite high, and my midwife is a bit rubbish and didn't mention anything about being engaged. What the hell does a BH feel like??!! Pretty sure I'm not having them - is this a bad thing??!!! lol

people have told me my bump has dropped but not noticed myself.... i have no idea what braxton hicks feel like so im guessing iv not had them yet... and i completely sympathise with the but cheek cramp iv had it most nights for a few weeks and it goes down the outside of my thighs and it takes all my energy to roll over to the other side lol xx

hi hun,

My Opinion at 40+2 weeks.
I wouldn't say i've 'dropped'. Bump jus seems to have eased away from ribs making easier to breathe, but not rly dropped if this makes sense.

Never had braxton hicks, i've had stretched ligaments and muscle pain, but no fake contractions...

Cramps and numbness is normal i think.

Hi hun, i can tell my belly has 'dropped' a little, now i can see it starts from really low down. As for braxton hicks, not everyone feels them, i didnt have the last time when i had my little one (6yr ago). This time i have had painfull ones. Mainly at night aswell for some reason, u will know if u get them. Its like a really painfull tightening pain. It comes and goes, mine the other night lasted for about an hour, it was getting to the point where i was actually starting to think i could be in labour.
As for getting numb pains in the night, i also get these. Its to do with the circulation. I just turn over onto my other side but then end up getting them in that side aswell. Hpe ive helped xx

Braxton hicks are quite uncomfy for me. Basically my whole bump goes really tight and I can feel some pressure on lower part of bump

And it also goes rock hard for a minute or so x

Ive been told my bump has dropped, it still feels pretty high up to me though!

I have had braxton hicks, mainly a few weeks back, not had them for a while for some bizarre reason. I didn't like them, they were uncomfortable.

Not had the butt cheek thing though?

I think mine dropped a little in past week but was always pretty low so hard to tell.

ive had BH since about 30 weeks but they are not painful, the only time i had uncomfy ones was after sex.

No butt cheek cramps though :)

I only really feel BH if I need a poo tbh. Bumps dropped a bit but not much and cramp and numbness are pretty common I think.

At the end of the day some women don't get any signs they are going to pop, and some get signs for weeks before. Don't worry if you haven't had these things hun, everyone's different xxxxxxx
