Hi ladies

We viewed a house today that is perfect for us. The only thing is its oil central heating. I've never used this before and was wondering how expensive it is? Our current flat has storage heaters

Thanks in advance

My brother has oil in his cottage, it costs them around £1200 per year. Xx

I'm not sure if that's the same every year or if that's because it's been particularly cold this year? Xx

Thanks everyone. Guess we won't be taking the swap, the oil heating will cost us more than double what we currently pay for heating =( x

Just caught this, I guess it depends how big the house is, we've recently moved house and gone from gas to oil. The house is bigger and gas used to cost us £120/month, from Jan-end of march oil has cost us £320/month but it has been freezing here. Filled the tank end of march (£660) and will need filling again in about 6 weeks, so we've done better since its gotten warmer. Hth.

That's crazy money. We only pay around £530 a YEAR for our electric storage heaters. Admittedly our hot water is heated by solar panels but even so. I asked a few people with similar sized families and looked like it was going to cost us at least £1200 a year, too much of a jump for us. Thanks everyone though for your responses x
