Hi ladies,

my OH has been ill since friday. He had the runs and thought that he had a tummy bug so I stayed at my sisters cos I didnt wanna catch it. He said he felt much better yesterday but then last night said he was up all night again. He rung NHS Direct (who are uselss IMO) and they said they think it's a Urinary Tract Infection. However I said that you dont get the runs whith that but he seems to think they are right. I am trying to stay well away from him (he is in bed,I'm downstairs) but I am really concerned if it is a bug then I really dont wanna catch it being pregnant and being so early pregnant.

I dont really know what to do for the best. Should I go back to my sisters to be on the safe side? Sorry for long rant!

Cath x

I think so long as you're extra hygienic with hand washing you should be fine :)

Pregnant people get sick all the time as well so I wouldn't worry :)

Thanks. It's my first pregnancy so it's all new. Plus pregnant or not, dont wanna get sick!

:) No-one wants to get a bug that's for sure, hope you escape it :)

I agree. You are gonna do well to avoid all germs for the next 8 months! Just be sensible and hygienic :)

Just be careful  Could be something like food poisoning (not contagious) or could be a D&V bug that's been doing the rounds. I know a couple of friends up north who have had it, and we've had it down in the South West too -and London. If it is the bug we've all had, it lasts 12 hours or so and then the "aftermath" of being on the toilet can last up to about 3 or 4 days. Just make sure he's bleached the toilet after he goes to kill any lasting germs - or at least try to!

 Hope you don't get sick honey xx

I had some sort of stomach bug last week and ended up getting an emergency appointment with the doc as at that point I just had loads of pain but no toilet issues. Doc said I had an irritated stomach lining (gastritis) and probably stomach ulcers. She said not to worry about the baby as it is tucked away and wouldn't be affected by anything going on in my stomach at all. The next day I spent mostly on the loo and it got really painful!!! They still said baby would be fine.

Hopefully you won't get it, but if you do my doc said that stomach bugs in pregnancy are common and shouldn't harm baby. Hope you're ok. xxx

You can eat lots of live yoghurt, that offers your gut some protection against tummy bugs, something like Onken is great :)

Thanks for all your replies ladies! I have come to stay at my sisters for tonight at least.

I felt a bit guilty leaving the OH but I told him I feel sick enough without a bug on top!!

Plus I get a whole bed to myself here!!!
