feel like crying....

My milk supply is low but is improving, I've been expressing between feeds to try and get it up a bit and I'd just managed to get 3oz, but whilst unscrewing the breastshield I didn't have a proper hold on the collection bottle and have dropped it sooooo annoyed at myself, its like liquid gold to me.

I did this soo many times too. I did actually cry about it as well. It's an awful thing to happen.

You may have lost the milk but you will be boosting your supply wonderfully

But I'm so impresed you go 3oz!!! Even now I can only get 3 oz in the morning if i only feed from one boob all night lol , well done you!

I've also realised if I keep expressing on one side past 15mins I hit a 'pocket' of milk and it starts squirting out again, hopefully this is a hidden store of milk and will also help increase my supply as Toby will take 5oz per feed (little fatty) and by the evening I have to top him up with formula as I've not managed to express enough extra during the day.

When you are pumping for the 15 mins before you get the pocket, is anything coming out? I get so frustrated when nothing is coming out!!

Yeah you will hit the second letdown after a while when nothing is coming out. It keeps stimulating your supply. I always let baby feed off the boob I have expressed from as well.

Oh hun! It's awful, I can imagine how you feel! My supply has really increased over the last few weeks and I am now exclusively feeding her breast milk! Woop! Keep going, you're doing so well. I couldn't keep up if she wanted 5 oz each time, though! We give her 2oz EBM by bottle and finish on the breast.

I also get a second let down around 12 minutes after the first. And if you keep pumping for a couple of minutes after it's stopped flowing that should stimulate production too.

Ahhhh, I had no idea that there was a second let down, I had been stopping once I'd been getting nothing for a minute or so. D'oh!

I read something that advised pumping for 5 mins after your milk stops as you get your second let down. And an empty breast makes milk quicker than a half empty one xx

Bless you Hun, I feel your pain! Even if I spill a drop it upsets me especially at 3am!!

Definitely keep going for the second let down.... Sometimes I move to the other breast and then go back for more. Trust me your supply will increase i can now manage between 7-8 Oz, which is two feeds.

Keep eating rolled oats too! Xx

Thanks KK, it's a challenge and I'm quite sore from my expressing mission today. How long did it take to get up to 7-8oz?

I'm drinking gallons of water and taking fenugreek tablets too. I've also got back to lots if skin on skin time too, oh and plenty if prayer! Fingers crossed it all works.

I got up to 8 Oz on Sunday, the soreness does ease sweetie. Skin to skin really helps. I will be praying for you hun, trust me it will all work out xx

To get my supply up I pumped every 2 hours - it was a killer but I produce just about the right amount now - occasional ff if he throws up my milk first.
