Eeeek I have tried convincing myself I am paranoid but last night my feet were so swollen I couldnt feel them. They went numb and I couldnt bend my ankles or toes. I woke up today and they are more or less the same, I can constantly see stars and my head is throbbing. I know this isnt normal :( The midwife mentioned pre-eclampsia and said she wasnt overly worried yet until protein shows in my wee and yesterday it did which the consultant brushed off because my face didnt look swollen enough  I know this is bollox as my Nan had it and her face wasnt particulary big. My weight is rocketing too, I can pile on 10lb in a day from morning to evening and Ive gained 7lb which has stayed on in 3days. I mentioned this to consultant who said I had dodgy scales :wall: I have 2 pairs which are brand new and have weighed myself on others and they all say same. Im going to my proper docs this morning and hopefully he'll say nothing is wrong and put my mind at rest. I have no faith in midwives or consultants as they all rubbish eachother and tell me such conflicting things, its so upsetting as i feel I can trust no-one

**Im back**

Well docs went really well. I was in there for over half an hour...poor people behind me :? Anyway doc really put my mind at rest. He explained the reasons he thinks I have my symptoms. He thinks that due to the extra fluid I have its causing my feet, hands etc to swell alot. He said I have a huge tummy  No shit! He was a little puzzled when he did my wee dipstick though and has sent it off to be cultured. My wee samples have always been fine until yesterday which coincided with me feeling extra crap and poorly. It says in my notes from this morning...

Nitrates ++
Trace Leucocytes
Trace Glucose
Trace Protein - pleased its only a trace!! :)

Full of crap :? He says it may explain why I dont feel very well but is very suprised I have no pain or anything. He has put me on antibiotics so hopefully that should get rid of whatever it is. I just feel so much happier and satisfied with what he told me. He did my blood pressure 4 times and its not high at all so that really good. About the rapid weight gain he said he thinks its mostly water and will fluctuate vastly but to not worry as baby will deffo be here in 4 weeks max :D Im so glad I went as I was in tears last night thinking I wouldnt wake up this morning or baby wouldnt be alive. I know its extreme but I suppose thats what being preggo and hormonal does to you

 No-one seems to want to help you!

Let us know how you get on

so glad you are going to the docs

you have a lot of the symptoms of pre-ec so you are best being safe than sorry hun

good luck, i'll look for updates xxxxxxxx

Good to get yourself checked out by someone you trust, hope everything is ok

thanks

My Nan has just said she is coming with me.....dont mess with the Nan! :shakehead: Seriously though, her baby was stillborn because of pre-eclamsia and she said wks ago to my Mum how she was worried about me as my pregnancy is going exactly the same way hers did :( I really hope its nothing. My little man is wriggling and ok in there at the moment which is reassuring, I just dont get what docs are trying to prove by keeping him there now? Hopefully my doc will speak some sense today!! Im off there at 9.30am

I would go straight to the hospital rather than the docs- You have far more symptoms of pre-eclampsia than I had and I was made to go to hospital time and again. Get checked out again thoroughly and be prepared to be admitted.

hope everything is ok, good luck

I had pre-eclampsia, which is why Josh had to be induced 5 weeks early. Its not something to mess with :(

My feet were just like yours, i also had ++ protein, very high BP and swollen hands, and slihtface swelling. I didnt get the headache or stars, which are the biggest warning signs. SO that was enough for them to induce me. Be firm!

Aww Tilly honey! I hope you are ok, you've been given such a run-around. Please make sure you don't get brushed off this morning, let him know how worried you are. I really hope it goes ok.

I think you're doing the right thing getting checked out. Hopefully it's nothing but it's best to be sure.

It does sound like you have some symptoms of pre-eclampsia. I asked my midwife about pre-eclampsia at my last appointment cos my feet are permanently like balloons, but it turns out it's just water retention. Hopefully yours is the same

Good luck

Awww Sarah

I do hope your Doc is more understanding and supportive and actually listens to you. If he refers you in to hospital for suspected pre eclampsia they will *have* to run tests to check. Just don't move yourself from there till its all be done and they have results one way or the other. Demand it, cry, yell a bit or ask to make a complaint about the standard of care, anything to get the consultants attention :wall:

As has been said, it may just be the dreaded water retention :? which isn't pleasant but at least isn't P-E.

Good luck and thinking of you

Glad your going to docs, good luck and i hope everything works out ok  xx

GET TO THE HOSPITAL!!!

I had 2++ protein in the wee and high blood pressure and was admitted and induced (you can see the story in my birth story!) I certainly didn't have a "swollen face" !! but definitely had pre-eclampsia.
