October 2017 mummies :-)

Had my scan today too - confirmed it was a girl!
Everything looking fine, all organs ok. She was trying to get measurements of the lips, but madam was having none of it! She had her hands up, playing with the cord, right in front of her mouth.
Weighing 11ozs and measuring bang on dates - tho mine is a bit different to Amythimas, they plotted my measurements on a graph to show if average, or above and below. Her abdominal circumference was above average too! Femer length was below average, she may be a shorty!
Will try and attach pic but didn't get a great one. She was lying completely the wrong way, so facing my feet, so the photo would have looked really odd. She had to move the wand right up my belly and then turn the image upside down...

Oh, I got proper freaked out coz they show the head facing you. So you see a skull, and really dark eye sockets, it looks proper freaky!
I'm not that bothered about the pics, going to have a 4d one at 29 weeks.
Oh, and had to see a consultant about my previous pre eclampsia - I just need to be monitored a bit closely that's all, so that's good.
Can feel real definite movements now, especially in the morning....
I think this means I can start buying stuff now! Xx

My not very good pic!

Yeyy, lea, you must be very pleased now! x

What kind of symptoms did you had with pre-eclampsia? I don't know why I read so much about it and I am scared I will have it too.

Yes, thanks very relived. My next milestone is the magic 24 weeks.

At the time, I didn't think I really had any symptoms. I went in for my mw appt at 37 weeks, and my blood pressure was in the 100's and protein in my urine. Got sent to hospital, where they done blood tests and said it was quite bad and I would be having the baby within hours! The only cure is to deliver the baby and apparently I was 3cm dilated at that point! I was induced by the drip, and 7 hours later, she arrived.
Looking back, I had very bad chest pain, which I put down to heartburn. It was horrific, ended up seeing a doc at a&e who just gave me milk of magnesium. I also had a nosebleed the week before - reading up, these were probably signs.
I'm on low dose aspirin now which the consultant said can completely prevent it - we shall see! I might get my own blood pressure monitor, just so I can keep an eye on what's going on...
Xx

Pic attached, took the app ages to work.
She doesn't fit so neatly on screen anymore! She's got her hand by her nose and the cord is by the leg.

Flick- I couldnt feel her during the scan, just them pressing down on my tummy and bladder. It was all really straightforward though. The woman doing the scanning was lovely. She said she was mostly scanning livers and bladders all day so I think she enjoyed it. She kept saying how wonderful and amazing everything was. She took the time to explain every bit.

My dad absolutely loved it and asked loads of questions. Its his first granddaughter, and he was amazed to see how much they can see these days.

Its weird to think I am carrying my daughter and part of any children she will have, as she currently has all the eggs she will ever have.

That's lovely! I take it you didn't need a full bladder? It's been 11 years I can't bloody remember a thing xx

I know what you mean about the looking at the face Lea, when mine was front on it looked really freaky. And thanks for the info on the pre eclampsia. That's really interesting. The 24 weeks point will be excellent.
I didn't need a full bladder, fortunately. My appointment was at 0800 so I didn't wee after 0700 but only drank a 500ml bottle of water in between. I still needed to wee but the scan distracted me. She kept apologising for pressing on my bladder, but I couldn't feel it.

I get to ring for my MatB form next week and book my whooping cough vaccine, so that's good.
Watching OBEM thinking 'I actually have to do this at some point, argghhh' x

Morning all x

Thank you Lea for pre-eclamsia info, it is very interesting and useful for the future not to ignore any symptom. I can't believe it is still 2 weeks until my scan , seems so long and now seeing that everyone is having it.

On which channel is OBEM, or are you watching on line? Don't know if it is good or bad to watch it :D

Hey ladies! Hope you're all well.

I've been catching up with the may thread! Love it!

Ohh the scans are happening! I am officially past 20 weeks now :D feels like an achievement. My scan is on Monday and I am really hoping we get some clear pictures as we had a bad experience at our 12 week scan.

Still getting mega heartburn which is a bit of a pain. How is everyone getting on?

Morning all,

so I had an awful nights sleep full of horrible dreams, think it is all just nerves for the scan today, keep willing the baby to just do loads of massive kicks so I know all is ok! I am also suffering with heartburn and indigestion, had it with Jackson but a lot later on so am hoping it will pass if all is well today x

Hi Flick, I've had an awful nights sleep too. Sorry to hear you have. It will all be fine! Fingers crossed for you.

I've got awful back pain, I keep getting pains right in my lower back and when I get up sometimes I really can't walk because of the sharp pains. I'm so uncomfortable when I sleep. My feet are constantly hurting because my ankles are so swollen :-(

I just dread to think what will happen to me once I've actually got a bump!

I am the same at work, it is painful to sit but even worse when I try to stand, as you say, am dreading when I am bigger, it is going to be unbearable! Am also struggling with pins and needles in my hands when I wake up, am not sure whether am lying on my hands or something? And my hips are uncomfy when am in bed......... all this at 20 weeks....... :( x

Morning,
I hope you're able to sleep better soon ladybugs :(
Flickr I have woken up a couple of times with pins and needles in my arm, I think it's because I squash it as I sleep :)

I have a nasty cold at the moment :( can't take anything other than paracetamol, I believe. Feel rubbish!

Flick, you probably have carpel tunnel too like me. My hands go numb when I sleep at night but its because there is swelling on my wrists too. That would explain your pins and needles.

Thanks, Oh no! Colds are rubbish, it must be worse when you're pregnant too. Any natural remedies you could take?

Am back and all is ok :) placenta is currently covering the birth canal so I need to go back at 34 weeks for another scan (a bonus scan I like to think :)) but everything is measuring ok, will upload the photo, its freaky! Big belly and big nose lol plus scary eye socket but he is giving us all a little wave :)
