****October 2014 mummies****

Tink have you tried sleeping with a pillow between your legs? I'm suffering with pgp and at night it's very painful but sleeping with at least 2 pillows between my legs helps loads xxx

Tink my sciatica is really playing up now ( only found out a few weeks ago thats what I have been suffering these past 4-5 years). I have found a hot water bottle and the pillow between the legs is helping, also I have been putting a cushion or some form of clothing under my bump while sleeping to help relieve
some pressure from my back

:yay: can't believe v-day is finally here.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Tinks welcome back, did you have a nice holiday?

Hey ladies not been on for a few days had an exam to prep for so glad it's over now! Just a few more essays and hopefully my degree will be finished assuming I pass :)

Congrats on the scans and to the ladies who've reached v day :) exciting times xx

Happy v day vampy and to those who've had theirs in the past few days.

Naomi, are you still studying as well? I've finished all my uni work now and am waiting on my results. I know I'll pass, I just want to know if I'll get merit. However I am still preparing for my competitive exam which is next weekend and I am cr*pping myself!!! If I don't pass I don't get maternity leave and that would obviously be devastating. This week is going to be loooooong :(

Somebody mentioned sore backs. I've got that as well (same as last pregnancy). Swimming really helps x

Pips, I am yes in my final year of my social work degree, I have done it through the open university though so it's mainly been doing the study online and still working, the local authority who I work for sponsor my studies so it's been a long 3 years I can't wait to finish! Wow good luck with your exam I'm sure you'll ace it but I know it doesn't stop you worrying until it's over does it.. Let us know how you get on :) what is it that you're studying? Xx

Went shopping today and my mother in law bought us our pram, carrycot, car seat etc. we are so lucky as my mum ordered our nursery furniture so we got it all coming in August :)

Heather, you lucky lady! That's you all sorted then.

Naomi, good on you doing that and still working... Hope you get the results you want. Does that mean you'll be aiming for a better job when you go back after mat leave? I'm training to become a secondary English teacher. I've been teaching for years but haven't got the official status, so I went for the equivalent of an MSc, and to become a teacher here there is a selective process of various exams you need to get through, this is the last stage for me so fingers crossed it all works out.

Hello ... Quick read and post before me and little one goes to bed. Holidays are lovely and so tiring, tried swimming in the pool for the first time during pregnancy yesterday and feels right weird like I am tighting my muscles on my bump.. So decide to stay on the shallow bit and do some moves. Looks like little one is very excited as he is kicking properly, and as long he misses placenta and goes above my belly button I can see my tummy jumping, so lovely... Trying to call oh every time it happens but looks like our son is a bit shy as he stops right away. Poor Dan is right jealous about whole experience...

Pips good luck for next week. You put a lot of work into it so I am sure you will be jus fine xx

Happy V day Vampys xx

Tinks I do not have back problem but my hips are absolute killing me. Pillow between my legs reduce the pain a bit, but I have also support my bump a bit with pillow or folded duvet so maybe that helps with back?

Ok nite nite before mosquitoes will eat me alive xxx

Thought id give a quick update!

Had my 20 week scan on friday! Baby is still a boy. All seems well from what i was told I have to go back at 23 weeks for a repeat scan for his heart as she couldnt get a photo - im not to worried about that as i had the same issue with my little girl and she was healthy.

The sonographer said everything was okay but when i checked my notes it says scan to check kidneys at 34 weeks.. from what shes wrote on my notes it says his renal pelvices are dilated! Why did she not mention this to me or send me to see the midwife? :(

Feeling very annoyed!

Ooh that's interesting kat I've been thinking about going swimming for the first time since pregnancy but kinda nervous to! Not exercised at all since pregnancy lol!

Aww katie I can see why you'd be annoyed, I'd give my midwife a call and discuss it just to put ya mind at rest, I'm sure it's all ok though. Cute piccy :)

Pips, well I'm currently employed in a kinda social work assistant job and once I hopefully pass the degree my contract will switch to a social work contract, however because of the Mat leave starting before I get my results I'll not get the pay rise til I go back which is fair enough! Ahh I see, good luck for your exams I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :) ive got sooo much respect for secondary school teachers I could never do it lol Xx

Hi ladies, hope everyone is fine. So much happens so quickly on this thread. Congratulations to all those who have had their scans and to all those who have reached v day. I have my 20 week scan wednesday i will be 20+5. I worry about the scan but excited also. Spoke to my gp last week about pelvic pain at the back one sided and sciatica. He advised swimming as i see some of you swim already. Also he said his wife had bought a belt from amazon and was much more comfy with it on. Anyways i have ordered a sacroiliac belt off ebay and waiting to try. Apparently my left sided joint is misaligning and the belt helps as it holds it in place. Does anyone have experience off a belt to ease pain? He also gave me a sheet of exercises to until bump gets to big. Xx

Naomi apparently those long foam swimming aids are brilliant for swimming when pregnant. Unfortunately kids in the pool are always first to get hold of it and it looks like there is only one here. It is amazing though how light you feel in the water and how nice you can jump around feeling weightless. Try swimming with long thingy. Xx

Katie I bet she didn't want to get you worried and left note for a midwife to explain the situation. Possibly it is nothing to serious but they want be on a safe side xx

If anyone needs any advice about swimming on here there is a lady called on here, Leesy who I think is a swim instructor. From memory she recommends doing breast stroke arms but with front crawl legs (kicking) so as not to hurt your hips anymore.

I love swimming and we have 2 big dogs so I walk quite a lot as well. I really think doing exercise really helped me with my labour and delivery last time :) xxx

Maybe Your right Kat! With it being my 2nd pregnancy I'm not supposed to see a midwife until 28 weeks so thought it was bad that I would wait so long.. I always thought no matter whether it's a big or a small problem that you would be seen by someone afterwards :-(

I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow as I'm transferring my care to a different hospital this isn't the first time I've had a problem in this pregnancy so would feel safer elsewhere. Hopefully she can explain more why I need another scan xx

Good for you Katie. I think that we know best what's good for us and we should go with our gut feeling. So if you are not happy and it is possible then change of hospital at this time is great idea. Hope you will get better care now xx

Hi All

im back from holiday and had my vday Saturday. Mamma and papas big sale online, saving over £70 on ordering my nursery furniture just to let you all know.
Hope all is well with everyone and scans have gone well.
