what set are you planning on getting. i just went all the way to westfield to look at the 'coast' set in mamas and papas as its 20% off at the moment. i got there and didn't like the cot.

ive not seen a set i like anywhere :(

I saw a loada furniture in the flesh at that baby show. Thanks to that I know I want the silver cross set but my second choice is a John Lewis set. Depends on what we can afford.

Im hoping family will put a bit towards.

Some of the cheaper sets looked like munchkin size and would look ridiculous in my rooms which have high ceilings.

We'll probably be getting it from Ikea. I've decided to go against my natural tendencies and not overspend on this.

thanks girls. NK i'm going to the baby show when it arrives in london at the end of october, is it worth me holding out til then?

i want a john lewis set but my budget is £800 including the cot..im trying REALLY hard to not increase the budget, my mum is giving us £300 towards the cot so i only need to add £500.

I was looking at the John Lewis Nouveau set which is surprisingly reasonable for if we get no help from family (noones offered yet :( ).

If we get some contributions them I'm hoping we can get the silver cross.

I don't know if ordering at the baby show would be any cheaper. But seeing the different price ranges helped us appreciate what the difference was between them. I can see some of the cheaper sets only lasting a couple of years before they've been outgrown. Some of the wardrobes were so small I'd have to stoop to use them and I'm short!

The more expensive stuff seemed to be like proper furniture you could see being in use when LO is 5 or so.

We looked at quite a few sets both on the net and in the shops. My parents have brought the cot and my mum insisted that as I'm short I should have a dropside cot (which having looked at loads and bent over to reach in its the right decision) which meant that the majority of sets we had liked and looked at were ruled out! We ended up going for a Boori cotbed but can't afford to buy the matching furniture so we're getting a set from argos which we can varnish to the same colour. I loved the John Lewis sets they are so nice! x x x

We are getting this....

It really fits in with our traditional theme and the dresser cupboard is going to have a rail put in to make a tiny wardrobe for the little man!!
If your stuck for something to do one day, visit the kiddicare warehouse in peterborough it took us about 1hr 20 mins from the london side of essex so prob wont take you much longer!!! Worth the visit as there is a whole floor (like ikea) full of nursery furniture!!
