I've decided (after about a week of wondering) that I'm giving up breastfeeding!

I've done 5 and a half weeks of breastfeeding and I am REALLY proud of both of us for doing so well and lasting so long despite everything.

Her tongue tie didn't work brilliantly, I fear it was done too late (most babies have it done within the first week) & she's just not learning to latch properly. My nipples are blistered from a lazy feeder lately. I've got huge problems 'down there' which need sorting out etc and I really could do with a painfree part of my body  Oh and I'm fecking sick of nipple pads  it's all got a little too much for me.

I can't watch her scream from hunger anymore, it's horrible. I have done my best and can always look back knowing I tried all I could! She's just very hungry lately and I haven't got the patience to perservere any longer.

All you booby feeders, I take my hat off to you! You're all fabulous but I'm part of the bottle clan now!

Thanks for ALL your support during my booby feeding. It was invaluable and I don't think you quite realise how I'd have fallen weeks ago if it wasn't for you lot. Thank you

I'm happy with my decision and feel really good, like a weight has been lifted. xx

Dannii after everything you have been through, I really cant blame you, I would have given up weeks ago!! You should be so proud that you persevered for so long, and Evie got the best of your milk in those first few weeks so you have done her well. I know, as well as you do, that this is the right decision for you, and perhaps now you can get on with enjoying being a mummy rather than stressing about feed times constantly. Hope things brighten up for you now, I wish you only good times ahead x

Well done for getting so far! I got to 5 1/2 weels also with Sam and i can honestly say it really was the best decision for us and I've never looked back. Sam was so unsettled with breastfeeding and never seemed satisfied, after we swapped he setlled down really well and is a thriving baby boy :cheer: I can't tell you how relieved i was when i could stop expressing and using pads, but it will take your boobs a good couple of weeks to settle down.
Enjoy the new world of bottlefeeding

Can I recommend to you the Hipp Organic Milk!!

Lewis really thrived on that, much better than Cow and Gate!

You did really well hun, be proud of yourself

Well done Dannii, you really did so good with all those hurdles! :D

You need to try to reduce BF gradually so you don't get poorly boobies!
Try dropping one feed at a time and wait for your supply to settle, i still had to express for a couple of weeks for comfort (engorgement HURTS) but Sam just decided he didn't want boob anymore so i stopped quite suddenly. I read the best way was very gradually dropping a feed at a time and when you were comfy dropping one then trying with another. If you want to stop BF right away you'll need to express for a while i think...Good luck

u did REALLY well dannii, u should be proud of yrself

im pleased for u that ur happy with the decision

Well done! You lasted so long and you really had it rough.  I'm glad you feel as though a weight has been lifted.

Well done for lasting so long
Just like you I felt a weight had been lifted when I stopped breast-feeding... Louis was latching properly but for some reason I didn't have enough milk to give him so he was just losing weight day after day :(
I just stopped suddenly (but I already had introduced a bottle top-up by then..) without needing to express and everything was fine :D

Well done Dannii for BF for 5 and a half weeks :cheer: You have done REALLY well! Jacob and I only lasted 24 hours

I know what you mean about the weight lifting after deciding to bottle feed, I had the weight lift from my shoulders too when I made the decision.

Happy bottle feeding

you did fantastically.

I was so relieved when I stopped as I felt i could finally enjoy my little girl :)

i got mastitus and so i just stopped instantly as i wanted to take the anti-biotics for it! I did have quite heavy sore boobs for a day or so but tbh it wasn't as painful as the feeding had been so i didn't mind! maybe you could drop to 2 feeds a day and then one and then see how it goes?

xxxxx

Well done for the time you did, just think how much Evie benefitted from it. as i said to you before, you need to be a happy mummy and BF was getting you down so you have made the right decision. as for getting rid of your milk, you need to do it slowly, every other feed and then gradually reduce.
keep us updated in how you get on :)

Well done. You have done so well. You have got incredible strength to persevere this far.
You've done what is best for you and your baby.
