Hi ladies,

I'm keen to try and breast feed and I've been told numerous amounts of times that nipple cream will be my best friend. I know Lanisoh is highly recommended but I looked into it and it contains lanolin which I'm allergic to. Does anyone have any recommendations of one that doesn't contain lanolin or is this going to pose a problem for me now? xx

I'm going to say something unhelpful maybe but I think you should ask the pharmacist if there is an alternative as this is the only one I know about. They may have something they make. I think you can survive breastfeeding without nipple cream but if you want some ask. I have to say that once I discovered the beauty of nipple shields I never needed the cream again. :)

That wasn't unhelpful at all hun, thank you. I will ask the pharmacist. Ooo what are nipple shields? Never heard of them before xx

You'd be able to manage without, I was never sure if the lansinoh really did that much. Make sure you let air get to your nipples whenever possible, don't just clip your bra straight back up, I found drying naturally helped. Once you've finished feeding, hand express a few drops of milk to rub over/air dry. The healing properties of breastmilk are greater than Of anything you can buy in the shops.

Nipple shields are silicone caps for your nipps and they worked wonders for me. My DD was a little monkey and ate every time like it was her last meal, killing my nipples. I only started using it after we established good latch to make sure she doesn't pull away from it. :)
I have to second Anne's answer to rub breastmilk on it, my sister told me the same thing.

Brilliant advice, thank you ladies. I would never have known that xx

Hi ladies hoe you're all well. Just thought I'd jump in, Lulu sorry don't know the answer to this. However for those ladies that are interested Babies r us have a baby event on at the moment at the Lanisoh nipple cream is £7.49, that's the cheapest I have found it! Been shopping around after it was recommended to me xx
