Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Henry did 3 and a half hours, settled really quickly and did another 2 then brought him into bed with us for another 2 hours. Really annoyed with hubby tho as he came to bed steaming drunk after drinking with my brother so I couldn't put Henry in the middle like usual so ended up with me in the middle and henry on the edge with a pillow at the other side of him...safe to say I had no room and didn't sleep properly because I was worried about whether he was safe enough!!

Oh bee - how bloody annoying - how was your night in the end?

This is the earliest LO has woken up for a feed. She usually has a good 6-8h stretch first thing, but only 4h tonight. I'm praying I don't have a repeat of last night where I was up with her from 1-5! Xx

Pretty rubbish night last night again.

Tonight he was so miserable from 9-10, totally not like him as he usually just feeds quite happily for most of the night. Then went down at 10:15 and did 4 and a quarter hours...nearly his longest yet. Not too bad but I couldn't sleep till gone 11. Got 29 people coming to the house in the morning for Henry's christening and stressing about all kinds which isn't good for sleep haha

Isn't it awful when the baby is asleep - but you can't sleep?! Then again, with the stress of a christening I'm not surprised! Hope it all goes ok.

Were up for feed 2 :-( I just don't know what's wrong lately. Xx

Well up for our first feed. He last fed at 9 so pretty good considering some nights last week he was up at 12am. I imagine he'll be up again for his next feed 3 hours from when he started. Hopefully he's back to normal and this first stretch lengthens! Going to bed at 9 on a
Saturday night is rather uncool!

I had a night off last night as went out with the girls. Came home very engorged so was up ages expressing. Can't seem to get drunk either as I need lots of water to stop the dehydration.

Hope the christening goes well beesmall. William had his at 6 weeks a month ago and it was lovely but he didn't sleep very well after!

First feed at 7am.... But not asleep til 1am before you get TOO jealous. Still good though.
Poor thing is all congested still though.
Enjoy the christening beesmall.

Hi ladies, had the best night for ages last night! He slept from 9pm until 4, then from just after 5 until 8 this morning! He is under the weather though with cough and cold so unfortunately at bedtime and back to sleep time we had hysterical crying which would only be settled with Calpol. Had lots of sleep though thankfully! Xxx

Second night of less than 2 hours sleep...
This gets better, right????

I've had good nights and bad ones Fliss. The problem I've had is getting Violet back to sleep after a feed. It seems to help if I wrap her up in a sheet afterwards and give her a cuddle before trying to put her down after a feed. I got a 3.5 hour sleep last night and was very grateful for it. What problems are you having? xxx

Flisstebbs - it definitely gets easier! I remember in the first week my husband and I were awake for three days straight! It was awful. I almost switched to formula but we persevered and my mum started coming round to sleep and help us. Hope you're getting lots of help. Xxx

She's snoozing all day and difficult to wake for feeds, and then alert and wanting to feed pretty much from midnight on to 6am. I am getting help so I shouldn't complain too much, alse getting 3 hrs or so in the day. Its just a hard start after a long labour.
I also shouldn't moan because j has taken to the boob really well :)

It really is such early days. I'm going to try and roll with it more tonight, trying to get j off for a nice long nap now to rev me up. See you ladies later!!!

The milk at night tends to be richer so they like it better and they don't know the difference between day and night.
It does get better. The first week or two is hellish xx

Today I had my first 'maybe I should move to formula' thought...he feeds ALL the time. Screamed through his christening despite having a good feed in the car as we arrived. Feeds loads at night. He's putting on weight brilliantly, following 91st centile line for the last 8 weeks so I must have enough milk. Can't understand it :-( I'm knackered

When you say all the time how long has he done that for? Maybe a leap?

The cluster feeding on an evening that is absolutely constant with like 2min gaps between feeds comes and goes but even when hes not doing this he feeds loads on an evening and always has. Same on a morning, he pretty much feeds every hour which makes doing anything, baby groups etc really miserable because he's never happy to just lie and kick around, he's either feeding, dozing before his next feed or screaming for a feed!

Far seems to be in a routine now. Last milk about 6/7 then sleep till aboutv1am. Has a feed then sleeps till aboutb7am. Just wish she would take a feed later and sleep through! But cant complain as she sleeping long stretches.

Hannah used to feed like mad evenings and has gradually done it a bit less. Still hourly usually. A bf group would be ok if you're just feeding though? You can still chat then and not feel awkward. I'm lucky I go to two lovely ones.
It's pretty tiring. How old is your LO (sorry I have a terrible memory and can't see signatures! ) Should feed less as tummy grows. Have you had tongue tie checked? That can cause less efficient feeding.
Hang in there b! Xx

Well here we are, the first feed of the night. He fed at about 9pm. Since early last week his usual routine has flown out of the windows; every night is different! Is anybody else finding this?

He's been getting grump around 8ish which makes me wonder if he wants to go to bed earlier (he gets beyond himself and won't nap) but if I do that his wake ups will probably be worse? He's 10 weeks this week and sleeping through sounds like a fantasy!

There are several groups here to go to, so I will prob start this week. Getting out the house seems like a major mission! J already seems better tonight as got her closer again, dh back in spare room! Haha, one night broke him, and he didn't even have to do the labour part
Can't believe she's nearly 1 week old.

Haha, my husband sleeps through the feeds now and only goes into the spare room if the boy is particularly grumpy. I'd like to say leaving the house gets easier (it does sometimes) but then they're sick everywhere, followed by poo then wee on you! A boy thing.
