Nightfeeds Chat Thread

We are up for feed number 2. So he's done 8.30-2, then 3-6 & hoping he goes back down til 8.

Kelly, I always try dummy & a stoke twice before getting him up. I figure if he spits it out twice & doesnt settle then he must be hungry x

Yeh! I only put J back down at 5 and he woke at 6 and is now moaning away! :-s one of the worst nights hes had for a while!

Hi Kelly. The wind hasn't made a difference, yau, up for first feed! But she didn't go to bed till 11ish.
I do unswaddle for a feed. This is because I was told at my BF group that babies use their hands as part of BF process so it's best not to swaddle...but it's more because I still have to change her every feed. So I
Unswaddle
Long feed
She falls asleep on boob
Change bum
She wakes up
Re swaddle
Feed again!

That way I manage to get more milk in and she stays asleep for longer.

My bf advisor told me to unswaddle for feeds too, apparently their touch helps stimulate milk production. Not that we've ever swaddled anyway!

Zoe, 11-6 sounds pretty good! That's probably what I got when I was working lol x

Car worked temporarily, I ended up taking him at 5, he seems to only want to settle laying on me! X

I unswaddle. Every night other than last night. He is ff.
I dont think it made much difference though xx

Hannah's hands actually get in the way as she stuffs them in her mouth when she's half asleep so for me a swaddled feed at night is easier and quicker for us both. Can't see it harms for one feed. Tbf she has usually escaped at least one arm anyway!

I couldn't get back to sleep 5.30am when she did! Then she's been super snorty since 6am. Asleep on my shoulder noq. Adorable!!! She's quieter there, still a bit snorty though. X

Yeh it honestky made no difference other than easier for me to feed him as he flaps him arms and pushes on his bottle when feeding. Was nice to have a simple no hassle feed xx

Aww that's good Kelly!

So Hannah did 12.15-5 then 5.30-9 in the end! Amazing! I didn't sleep much in the second bit though. X

Hi ladies! Bex that is some amazing sleeps for her age!

I managed to get a bit of a block of sleep thank god.. He didn't go down till 11, then woke at 1.. Great! Went down again pretty quickly thankfully (30mins) then didn't wake until 5:30 which was lovely. Again he fell asleep again after about half an hour, but his poor nose was getting him in such a state I left him in with me so I barely got a wink of sleep until oh got up at 7:30! I then moved Max over and he's still asleep now! I of course woke properly about 9ish and can't get back to sleep again. Typical! Xxx

We had such a good night. She slept till 6, then wouldn't sleep so hubby brought her in to our bed and slept with her till 10 am! I have had about 8.5h sleep! Woohoo

Yay for sleeps!! Honestly ladies once babies start sleeping through the night you appreciate life so much more so constantly feel happier! Xxx

I find it amazing how much I appreciated just one hour of straight sleep in hospital, then 3 hours straight after the crazy cluster feeding first week was like a miracle. Now 5 hours is lovely. Anything longer would be living the dream!! The worse it is in the beginning the more you appreciate any sleep as time goes on :-) I used to cry if I only had 5 hours!!!

Harrison has only ever given me a maximum of 5 hours bex & he's 14 weeks now! So that might be your lot for a while haha x

That's fine, I'm perfectly happy with it, I think she's doing great! :-)

J was going 5 hours at that age too and now wont go longer than 4. However, in a night, I do get between 6 and 8 hours sleep each night x
