Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Is you LO feeding and sleeping better now spin?

Our lives would be far too easy if men thought of everything. Bless them.

Feed done, he was very fussy tonight :-( he in basket now a bit restless. Hate this bit , can't really sleep until I know he sleeping. Sigh. Xxx

We went to a party last night. The plan was to take E and put her upstairs with the baby monitor when she fell asleep. She started really crying screaming & we had to push her round the streets for ages into she fell asleep. She woke up half an hour layer screaming again & I managed to give her a knock out boob. She then slept. Poor baby. She has never been like that before.
Fed her when we got home at 1 & am now feeding her ay 5. Could really do with another nice long stretch now, I'm exhaustrd.

Claire & paddles that's not bad going! & Kelly that's great!
Were doing first feed but she didn't go down till 10.30. And I didn't sleep till midnight, hubby kept doing the "ill be coming to bed in 5" for over an hour Grrr then decided not to plug the monitor in so it started alarming at 3 so I had to get up and plug it in.

Why do men not think of these things?!

Been up for 1hr 40 now and J showing no signs of wanting to go back to sleep which is rare for him after that feed. Very annoying. OH trying to make him sleepy and it works but then he's crying when OH or I leave him in his basket.

Oh Sophie I wonder why she was like that?
Kelly sorry to hear ur,still up

Paddles,much better ta!

I'm trying a diff way of latching and it seems to be working. Plus I'm only letting her stay on one side, for,a max of half hour so I don't get sore. Started Domperidone today to up my supply as we've been having to top up with 2 - 3 oz after each feed (so she's prob been grumpy all this time as she's been hungry!) But were out of expressed now so will need to top up with formula :-(

Oh spin, that sounds frustration. Have you tried expressing before a feed just to see how much you get & then just bottle feeding her that for one feed? Would be interesting to know. Babies drink a lot to get your milk supply up so topping up with formula is a vicious circle really & best avoided if possible. Have you had your latch checked?
We're up for another feed, so far E has gone back down with no issues, so no idea what her issue was earlier. Fingers crossed she ford back to sleep even though it's 8. I'm not Easy to wake up yet!

Well I had a good night max asleep by 10. Woke at 1:30 for a feed back asleep by 2:30 woke at 6:30 and that's us up for the day!! He is only 2 weeks old! I feel like I might be starting to get into some sort of routine! Well fingers crossed. Hope your all ok and your babies are letting you get some sleep xx

Wow that's really good for two weeks old Amy.
Getting grumpy with the lack of sleep. Gonna snap at DH, can feel it. Luckily he's gone to work. I know it's not his fault as he would get up in night if he could do something but I still want to slap him!! ;-) x

Morning ladies. Had to cosleep again. She finally fell asleep on the boob about 11.30pm. Tried swaddling and hot water bottle and ewan the dream sheep but sleeps for 10 mins then wakes up wanting boob again. Sucked my finger for 20 mins but still no sleep so ended up bringing her into bed. Then slept till 3.30am. Then again til nearly 7am. So not bad, just can't relax as she's next to me so I wake up achy.
Glad a few of you did ok xx

Some of u seem to b getting a really good nights sleep and ur babies are so young! I must admit I'm slightly jealous lol! My lo is 6 weeks and pretty much since we brought him home from the hospital he has fed every 3 hours and still does! He sleeps pretty well and last night he went 4 and a half hours I was thinking maybe this is it he's gonna go longer but none was back to every 3 hours again he takes between 3/4 oz and has 7-8 bottles a day I'm shattered lol!
Hats off to the bf ladies I tried it but he was having none of it it's so much harder than u think its gonna b I was really upset when I had to give in and give him formula x

Im sure it will get better. Well it definitely will! But sounds good at the end of the night :-)

J has had 1 night feed for a few nights now and I think this will continue now that he has his bath every night before bed and not at random times :-)

This us gonna sound terrible but trying to get the time to bathe Vincent every evening is like mission impossible so he has one every second night is love to give him one every night as although he doesn't sleep longer after one he has a more restfull sleep. I think ill crap myself if he only wakes up for one feed lol but looking forward to those days! X

We were doing one every other night until this week. Its not always easy lol.
And I worried too, the first night he went longer than 1am, I woke up, looked at the time, was shocked and went over to check him about 2. Then he woke around 3!

I kept trying to post on here whilst feeding last night but I was dozing off before I could finish! We seem to be getting into a bit of a routine at night now (fingers crossed I'm not going to jinx it!) For the last few nights Seren has settled down quite well in the evening and then goes until about 12.30. After that she's generally up about every two to two and a half hours which I don't think is too bad at 11 days and its certainly a lot better than DS was at this age. She's getting easier to settle back as well so I'm not up for too long at a time. Strangely she seems to prefer her basket to cosleeping! Xxx

That's brilliant sleeping for babies so young ladies! You're obviously doing something right ;-).

I only bath Max every other day too, and we do it in the mornings so that the bedtime routine is always the same.. I use 'routine' very lightly, it's literally me taking him upstairs and feeding on my bed until asleep then transferring into his! I would co-sleep all the time if I could sleep, but like umbongo I am always in a dodgey position next to him so can't. We usually end up having him in bed with us for the early morning feed though just out of exhaustion!

So last night started well, 10:30-3:15, went back by 4:15... But then he woke at 5:30, but I knew he couldn't be hungry as never wakes that soon, so rocked the basket until he went back, then he woke again at 6:30, which is when he came in our bed for some lay down boob action. I was pretty much awake from then apart from the odd doze, but did didnt wake until 9! Xxx

Hi Sophie. Weve only just started topping up because I expressed for 2 days as my boobs hurt so much. I was getting about 60ml off each boob every 4h, but madam was drinking at least 150ml every 2-3h! So I know that giving her one boob just isn't enough (i know babies are generally better then a pump but her latch is so shallow its doubtful she is according to the infant feeding advisor!) And when I was giving her loads of milk in a bottle she was SO much more settled!
I don't want to give her both boobs each feed yet as they are still very tender but in a few days I'm going back to switch feeding.
Hence the Domperidone!
I go to a bf support grp each week and have seen 3 lactation consultants, and at least 5 BF support workers lol.

We had a great night, she is settling straight back to sleep so I slept 12-3.30 then 5-8!

Hubby slept the whole 8h but he is dozing on the sofa with her while I do the housework...

Oh and with bathing, she only gets a bath when I have help. She's so grumpy in the eves I need someone to stop her crying while I get everything ready for bath & bed time. So she gets a bath about 4 nights a week at the moment.

The nhs only recommend one bath a week. We top and tall every other night so far. Not bathed yet!! She's not exactly grubby. The top and tail keeps the important bits clean xx

I dont care what the nhs say. If I want to bath my baby I will :)
