next stage teats??

I dont know weather O needs the next stage teats on his bottles. We use the Dr Browns bottle and just use the first stage teats you get with them but noticed over the last week he seems to be trying to suck and gulp harder than before but its not all the time. He is 6 weeks old and some one said you shouldt up the stage of the teats till they ate ay least 3 months is this the case?

It takes him about an hour to get through 5-6oz and he only stops for once or twice in this time!

Nathan has been on the 2nd stage teats since birth. He is on the Avent teats so I don't know if there different. Theres 0, 0+ then 3months+. Hes still on the 0+ yet but I'm gonna move him up to stage 3 soon. If its taking him an hour to drink a bottle I'd say try the next teats.

We use Tommee Tippee Closer to nature bottles, and we swapped to medium flow teats the first week after birth on the recommendation of midwife, Ruby was taking ages to feed, and falling asleep on the bottle-it was too hard work for her!! Have bought the fast flow for her, they are okay when she is really hungry, but if she is sleepy/tired then they are too fast for her...

I would say try the next size for a few feeds, maybe when he is quite awake (not during night or when he is tired) and see how you go xxxxxxx

thanks for that then, I might try a couple and see how he gets on, I just didnt want him to take it to fast and throw up.

Thing is on a night he only does 2 oz then goes back to sleep, then is waking up after about 2 hours as he is hungry,. then he only takes 2oz again, then in the day he is back on 5-6 oz again

I think he does get tired in the day though and give up as he does the first 3 ok, its the last 3 that seem to take ages as he rests loads and starts to close his eyes the little bugger.

Ill try them in the day and see what the craic is then - cheers mummies

i was thinking that too i use dr brown bottle so i think i will buy stage 2 teats now lol they are expevise in asda like £2.50 for two and i have 7 bottles grr lol

christopher has been on 3 month teats since about 2 weeks old hun the HV actually told us to do it as it was taking over an hour to feed him now it takes about 10 minutes hes much more settled and piling on the weight he takes 5-6 ounces in 10 mins xxxxxxx
