I never imagined I'd be posting about this.

My 5 day old exclusively breastfed baby appears to be sleeping too much at night.

My daughter was a terrible sleeper and when she was newborn me and DH took the night in shifts for the first 4 weeks. The main problem was trying to follow the safe sleeping advice and to put her down in her moses basket... She'd wake up very soon after I put her down and this cycle would continue all night.

This time I have decided to do things differently and have been cosleeping from day 1.
Its been a massive improvement and although it's early days he goes for a long stretch of sleep between about 12 and 5 which has been amazing.
He feeds furiously in the day with constant feeding all evening and then a long session when he wakes up.

I just wasn't expecting this. Anyone else had this experience?

I'm also worried that I'm not feeding in the middle of the night which is the best time to stimulate supply. Might this damage my long term supply.
(I've never had low supply problems in the past)

Do you think I should just enjoy this while it lasts, so long as he is gaining weight well.
Or should I wake little one for a feed?

Obviously I should ask my midwife but I wanted to hear others experiences.

Thank you. Xx

Mine has been doing this! My midwife said I need to wake her... but that's because she isn't putting on as much weight as she should... so I assume it's ok if he is putting on weight?
I've had to start giving her formula because she wasn't getting enough from me :/ I didn't know about the night affecting supply tho x

My daughter did this to, shes now 6 months old. Nothing to worry about hun, he obviously just loves his sleep ;) xx

My little girl was/is the same. For the first few weeks i woke her up every 4 hrs now she's 3 months I just let her sleep lol

I woke mine at first when she was a bit jaundiced but after that the midwife said just let her sleep.:). it will probably be the co sleeping why this baby is going longer :)nxx

Thanks ladies.
Yes the midwife recommended setting an alarm to get a feeding in between the hours of 12 and 5. She told me prolactin levels were highest at this time and it was important to establish supply. Who knows if this is true and how much of an impact it has?

He is stirring on his own now around 2am so no need for an alarm.

I am crossing my fingers he turns out to be a better sleeper than his sister.

I definitely produce more milk at night if I let her have a nap on me 3-6 am when Im having my "reverse nap" my bobs are so full in the morning!

My mw said to allow her to sleep for 5 hours max at night. She has gained weight but she hates me waking her and couldn't latch she was so tired. I just increase her feeds in the day x
