So I had my baby three days ago :) and to cut a long story short she won't sleep in her moses basket at all, she is also is sick whenever she's lying flat for a while so I'm going to bring that up with the next health visitor/midwife I see..
She will sleep well in her bouncer, it's one of those fisher price baby to toddler ones, it has a lying down position that just has a gentle dip in it.. The only other way she'll sleep in in my arms and I really don't want to cosleep because of the sids risk etc and my partners a smoker.. Do you think the bouncer is the lesser of two evils? I've tried everything to settle her in her moses basket, white noise towel under mattress, my top near her, dummy, patting and shushing, rocking etc etc.. I'm adamant every night I'll stay awake all night so I don't Co sleep but then I get so exhausted I end up doing it anyway! Do you think trying her in her bouncer tonight would be OK? Thanks in advance

it's really not recommended to let them sleep in a bouncer, the risk of sids is high.

speak to your health visitor and maybe look up safe co-sleeping. do you have a spare bed for the two of you?

another option would be to invest in a next to me crib

I wouldn't risk a bouncer over night either, you really need to be supervising a baby sleeping in a bouncer and it should only be for naps at most. I agree you need to look into safe co-sleeping and your partner needs to sleep elsewhere. The only other thing you could consider is a sleepyhead x

Congratulations on new baby x

Can you try and put something under head-side of the moses basket so that she is not lying completely flat? Like other's said, I wouldn't leave her to sleep in a bouncer x

I would say look into co sleeping and have your partner sleep in a different bed xx

Just to offer an alternative view re co sleeping and SIDS, there is still a risk of it with Co sleeping. Like someone else mentioned maybe try something like a snuzpod and see how that goes? These early days are haaaard!

i found that neither of my two would sleep on their back, i have also read (controversially) that reflux babies are not comfortable on their backs either, i have always had mine sleep on their fronts, i know this goes against all current advice but with my youngest i used an alarm under her mattress for incase she stopped breathing (never went off) and by the time my second came along i just plopped him how he was comfortable - on his front! but there you go, you're not supposed to do that ...

Okay, so no bouncer sleeping then, I might try the pram carrycot then, surely that's safe and she slept OK in that earlier, maybe as we were walking around but still, worth a shot! Thanks for all your replies, very helpful!

The info you got with your pram should tell you if the carrycot is safe for overnight sleeping, mine is x

My little for spent the first week or so in her baby to toddler chair. She used to settle in her carry got but then a few hours later would scream and its the obly place she woukd settle. No it's not recommended but sometimes needs must. She is 5 now and no issues. SIDS can happen in a cot in a Moses basket etc
Hope you manage to settle her x

Co-sleeping is not safe if its with someone who smokes. I used the chicco next to me crib which you can raise one side so this really helps with reflux. Have a look at them.
